Job Description:
The EHS&S Sr. Manager is responsible for driving the development, organization, administration, enforcement, and continuous improvement of EHS programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, county, local, and customer requirements. The EHS&S Sr. Manager will support locations’ performance toward meeting their injury rate and environmental sustainability goals, as well as continuous improvement and validation of their EHS&S compliance requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S).
- Serves as the subject matter expert in EHS&S to the Operations, Engineering, and Program Management/Development organizations.
- Reports directly to the Director of Operations for Maritime.
- Supported by a network of EHS&S professionals and corporate leadership within L3Harris.
- Works in environments that are a mix of manufacturing, assembly, repair, engineering, program development, and office activities.
- Expected to travel across locations, and works on a 9/80 schedule, with availability to support global operations or programs as required.
- Supports all aspects of EHS&S performance, including injury reduction and avoidance, environmental sustainability initiatives, and meeting EHS&S regulatory and company requirements.
- Support the deployment and verification of policy, programs, and tools to support the organization’s goal of building a best-in-class EHS management system striving for Zero Injuries, Zero Risk, and Zero Impact.
- Focuses on continuous improvement and management of change of EHS&S programs in processes, systems, and products.
- Focus areas: Ergonomics, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, Hazard and Risk Assessments, Hazardous Waste, Air Quality and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan.
- Ensure dissemination of ownership responsibilities for regulatory, corporate, and internal obligations throughout all business functions.
- Supports the standardization of EHS&S processes across all facilities.
- Conducts workplace surveys, safety audits, risks assessments, etc. and advises management of conditions requiring corrective action and tracks resolutions to an effective closure.
- Supports incident investigations and data/trend analysis to determine root cause, produces and maintains necessary documentation and ensures that all applicable reporting requirements are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Regularly briefs the operations leadership on programs, trends, and action plans.
- Supports facilities in internal and external audits to ensure locations follow regulatory and L3Harris requirements, to include but not limited to facilities permits and licenses, training, certifications, inspections.
- Ensures sites meet deadlines and execute company EHS programs effectively.
- Remains current with all applicable regulations and company policies.
- Leadership and expertise to explain and influence changes to make significant improvements in policies, practices, or approaches.
- Strong technical understanding of environmental and occupational health and safety regulations and practices.
- Practical experience developing, training, and implementing EHS&S programs and trainings.
- Ability to research technical information as required.
- Ability to manage time and projects across multiple facilities or programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work under general, consultative direction and manage programs independently.
- Experience managing a budget with vendors and consultants for EHS&S compliance.
- Experience with city, county, state, federal regulatory agencies.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation).
- Competent computer skills related to Microsoft office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analysis skills
- Exhibits sound judgment and professionalism in all situations.
- Strong root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
- Performs related duties or special projects as directed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of prior Environmental, Health, and Safety experience ideally in an industrial, aerospace, or manufacturing facility.
- OR a Graduate Degree with 10 years of prior Environmental, Health, and Safety experience ideally in an industrial, aerospace, or manufacturing facility.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior Environmental, Health, and Safety experience ideally in an industrial, aerospace, or manufacturing facility.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- EHS-related professional accreditations: Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Professional Engineer, etc.
- Involvement in high performance programs: VPP, ISO 45001, 14001
- Experience using and leveraging EHS&S common systems, such as Gensuite and Sphera
- Ability to use data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI to analyze data for use in developing proactive prevention plans.
