JR6130673 Senior Finance Manager US Engineering & Operating Costs

We have an exciting opportunity to join the US Defence finance organization to support the retained engineering business, support the ET&S financial transition and lead the US operating cost reporting workstream. The Senior Finance Manager will support the Defence US engineering team as a critical finance business partner. They will support transition to the new ET&S organization, ensuring consistency and compliance within the accounting framework. Alongside this they will drive performance management to influence decisions on cost rates and general operating cost for the US. The role will work within a team of 3 - one finance manager and one analyst - reporting into the VP of Engineering, procurement & IT finance.

Key Accountabilities:
Consolidating, analyzing and reporting on business and financial performance of Defence engineering spend to provide actionable information to management. In the short term and over the medium-term window (5 year plan).
Own and lead the US Defence engineering budget process for the end-to-end financials of the function.
Stewarding the RRC labor booking system, supporting the creation of project set up and settlement control to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the financial accounts.
Business partner the US engineering leadership team to effectively communicate, challenge and drive financial performance aligned to the engineering business metrics and objectives. Including but not limited to Operating costs, efficiency metrics, cost rate performance, capital/R&D investments.
Develop and drive an improved operating cost reporting and insight workstream, aligned with the UK finance team for Defence. Enabling improved cost transparency, allocations, and recoveries.
Ensure a rigorous governance and control environment for accountable area, supporting accounting close month end, statutory reporting cycles and audit. Including supporting the RRNA R&D tax credit.
Support the team ethos and development of individuals in the Defence Engineering Finance team, promoting opportunities and leading by example.
Basic Requirements:
Associate’s degree with 3+ years in finance/accounting experience OR,
Bachelor’s degree with 1+ years finance/accounting experience OR,
Master’s Degree finance/accounting experience OR,
Experience in Lieu of degree with 5+ years in finance/accounting.

Preferred Requirements:
Extensive knowledge of business planning, reporting and control.
A resilient and self-motivated candidate, accomplished at forming relationships and influencing people at all levels in the company.
An experienced Finance operative, able to develop actionable insight to inform the Business and improve financial performance.
Experience leading key Finance processes and coordinating deliverables to stringent timeframes.
A good working knowledge of Finance modules in SAP (beneficial)
Experience of working with Hyperion Financial Management (Oracle) and VBM (Value Based Modelling) software.
