Position Summary
The Shift Manager – HNL Line Maintenance is responsible for all Line Maintenance activities performed at Honolulu Main Base station by their shift team. Manages the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities to ensure safe and reliable aircraft. Promotes a safety conscious work force to ensure the wellbeing of our employees. Collaborates with other departments in an effort to continuously improve our performance.
This position has an estimated duration of 24-36 months.
Key Responsibilities - Responsible for all Line Maintenance activities performed in Honolulu by their shift team.
- Ensures all work performed is in accordance with HAL Policies and Procedures and Federal regulatory requirements. This includes and is not limited to:
- OEM Approved Technical Manuals (AMM, SRM, CMM, etc.)
- HAL Approved Manuals (GMM, MOPM, SPM, SPPM, GSM, JPM, etc.)
- Government regulations (FAA, OSHA, EPA, etc.)
- Ensure all work performed on non-HAL aircraft/equipment is in accordance with the owning company’s policies and procedures and within the scope of the established contract.
- Will coordinate and collaborate with MOC throughout the daily operation to ensure a safe operation while working to achieve our OTP goals. This includes and is not limited to:
- Accurate and timely updates, advises and ETRs
- Delay review, coding and timely challenges
- Troubleshooting collaboration and follow up action items
- Will coordinate and collaborate with Reliability, Engineering and MOC to analyze and mitigate trends.
- Will provide oversight and ensure coordination and collaboration between Shift Supervisor and Planning (HA/DL) on daily/long range work packages and unscheduled maintenance events.
- Will monitor and provide recommendations on Staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage to maintain all aspects of the Line Maintenance operation.
- Will coordinate and collaborate with Engineering, Base/Shop Maintenance and MOC to find best possible resolution to return AOS/AOG aircraft back into service in a safe and timely manner.
- Will work with Base/Shop Maintenance Managers to coordinate and provide/request support staff and technical assistance when required.
- Will work with M&E Safety to investigate and resolve any safety related issues.
- Will work with QA to investigate and resolve any audit findings and CARs.
- Will work with Records to ensure Error Docs are corrected in a timely manner.
- Will ensure an accurate turnover is provided to the oncoming shift team to facilitate a fluid work flow between shifts.
- Will ensure that our work areas, equipment and vehicles are properly maintained (housekeeping program).
- Will ensure Accountability protocols are implemented as required. This includes and is not limited to:
- Coaching: Discussions and mentorship
- Employee Evaluations: Annual, Probationary, Trial Period
- Disciplinary: ROCA’s
- Rewards: Mahalograms, MVP, Kupono
- Responsible to ensure administrative tasks are completed as required. This includes and is not limited to:
- Ultipro – Daily timesheets, vacation requests
- Budget – OT Reports, Variance explanations, Budget forecasting
- Uniform re-ordering
- Responsible to ensure all Supervisor and Mechanic required training is current. This includes and is not limited to:
- Spotlight training
- Read & Signs
- Maintenance Tips
- Ensure that Shift Supervisors, Shift Assistant Supervisors and Leads Mechanics are aligned with our departmental vision, mission and goals.
- Responsible for the professional growth and development of the Shift Supervisors, Shift Assistant Supervisors and Lead Mechanics. This includes and is not limited to:
- Leadership training
- Enhanced technical training
- One on one coaching and mentoring
- Development of a succession plan
- Will collaborate with Line Team members on the mission of continuous improvement. This includes and is not limited to:
- SOP development and implementation
- Process review and refinement
- Event review and lessons learned
- Will also perform functions of a Sr. Manager and Shift Supervisor as required.
- DOT Regulation, 14 CFR Part 120 Subpart E 120.105-120.109 identifies this position as performing safety sensitive functions. Prior to any offer of employment or transfer into this position you will be required to submit to a DOT Pre-Employment drug test for evidence of Marijuana, Cocaine, Opiates, Phencyclidine (PCP) and Amphetamines or a metabolite of those drugs.

Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Requires FAA Airframe and Power Plant License
- 5+ years Aviation Maintenance production experience is required
- 3 years of management or leadership experience
- Strong analytical and operational business skills are required
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills
- Requires experience with building and maintaining a budget.
- Must be able to obtain an AOA badge.
- A Valid driver’s license and passport is required
- Hawaiian Airlines is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT - regulation, 49 CFR part 40) and all applicants are advised that post-offer and/or pre-employment drug testing will be conducted to determine the presence of Marijuana, Cocaine, Opioids, PCP (Phencyclidine), and Amphetamine prior to any offer of employment or transfer into a safety-sensitive position. Please note that the provided salary information serves as a general guideline. Our salary is determined by a candidate's experience and qualifications as well as market and business considerations. The expected pay range is $109,200 - $134,400.
Preferred Qualifications
- B717, B767, B787, A321, and A330 experience preferred.
- Experience in a FAR part 121 operation.
- Previous IAM management experience.
- College Degree
- Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
