Job Description
You will be a CNC Machine Operator at Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control, helping to produce precision machined parts that support advanced weapon and sensor systems. Our team relies on skilled operators who ensure every workpiece meets exacting specifications and keep our high speed CNC equipment running safely and efficiently.
What You Will Be Doing
As a CNC Machine Operator you will set up, run, and monitor computer numerical control (CNC) machines, verify part dimensions, and perform routine maintenance. You will work closely with engineers, toolmakers, and quality inspectors to keep production on schedule and maintain the highest quality standards.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Measure finished workpieces with precision instruments, templates, and fixtures to confirm conformance to specifications.
- Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on CNC machines using hand tools and measuring devices.
- Stop machines as needed to remove parts, change tooling, or adjust workpiece placement according to the required machining sequence.
- Transfer machining commands from servers to CNC modules via computer network links.
- Verify that workpieces are properly lubricated and cooled during operation.
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on machines and tooling.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CNC programs to set up machining operations.
- Communicate any issues or deviations clearly to supervisors and engineering staff.
- Work 1st shift (5:30 am – 3:00 pm Mon Thu, 5:30 am – 2:00 pm Fri, every other Friday off) and be available for 2nd shift coverage as required by the UAW collective bargaining agreement.
