What Will You Be Doing?
The Senior Analyst works to deliver solutions addressing business problems by employing operations research, statistics, product management, data engineering and programming skills. The Senior Analyst will be responsible for building data pipelines, automating business processes, creating data visualizations, and performing statistical analysis. The Senior Analyst will see the direct impact of their own work and will work in an environment where suggesting new ideas and approaches is encouraged. The Scheduling Analytics team will focus on driving continuous improvement of the systems, processes, tools, team, and self.
Essential Functions
- Leverage big data, capabilities in cloud environments, and multiple sources of data to identify signals and integrate those signals into modeling for explication, prediction, or production
- Work with multiple teams across the organization to identify new opportunities and deliver actionable analytics solutions to streamline scheduling process and improve operational design
- Create documentations, code standards, code library and workflows, where industrialized processes are necessary
- Collaborate with diverse teams and improve business process
- Construct statistical models and present findings to relevant stakeholders
- Develop dynamic and flexible visualizations and dashboards to illustrate key trends and KPIs
- Work with a wide variety of teams with diverse technical backgrounds
- Enhance the network planning / scheduling infrastructure by implementing best practice coding & structure
- Manage ETL process in new and existing data pipelines to create clean datasets for use in analysis
- Write clean, efficient code to automate processes
- Mentor more junior team members, and foster the development of their programming and analytics skills
- Conduct ad-hoc projects, reports and analyses as determined by management
- Set the standard for the broader team in thought processes and analytical output
- Achieve expert status in business and industry trends
- Lead change across the organization by improving directly owned processes and taking initiative to champion cross-functional opportunities
Other Functions
- Interact with commercial team and cross-departmental teams to improve operations and maximize revenue
- Understand and execute company objects as it relates to the flight network
- Ability to understand and translate airline Scheduling and basic functionality
- Manage Network optimization tools which include but not limited to; Navitaire Skyschedule, Sabre Schedule manager and Sabre Slot Manager
- Develop, maintain and report on airline Block times and standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related analytical field required
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or other analytically focused programs preferred
- Previous professional use of SQL, Python, R or other coding languages required
- Previous professional use of Microsoft Excel
- Previous professional use of statistical analysis required
- 1-3 years of professional experience in data analytics, programming, or other quantitative fields required
- Experience in Airline network analytics, process automation, or similar role preferred
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Advanced programming skills, with knowledge of SQL, R or Python strongly preferred
- Proven ability to independently perform quantitative analysis and develop applications
- Experience with Databricks and/or Snowflake preferred
- Experience with Power BI or Tableau preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel required
- Knowledge or interest in machine learning preferred
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep track of and manage several projects at once
- Able to efficiently summarize analytic approaches and products and present insights and actions to upper management
- Understanding of operations research, statistical, product management, and/or programming solutions and techniques
- Advanced analytical and quantitative skills; demonstrated understanding of airline network design and operations
- Able to effectively deploy data engineering solutions
- Strong work ethic; delivers results in ambiguous, time-pressured situations
- Comfortable working self-sufficiently to creatively solve analytical challenges with limited data and imminent deadlines
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Must have good attention to detail for reporting and analysis
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments, partners and staff
