Summary
CAE’s Washington Operations (WashOps) seeks highly motivated candidates for a part-time paid internship to join our dynamic and fast-paced team beginning in January and run through May 2025. The Government Relations Intern will serve as an integral part of the team, supporting policy and business development, market analysis, and strategic engagements. The intern will have the opportunity to learn about government relations, working across the team to support a range of efforts across the defense & security, civil aviation, and healthcare business units.
Based in downtown Washington, DC the WashOps office is the government relations hub for the company, engaging with Congressional, Federal, and international stakeholders integral to our business.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The Government Relations Policy Intern will gain experience in the following areas:
- Support work of senior government relations representatives and gain knowledge of regulatory policy issues facing CAE with a focus on training, modeling, and simulation across a variety of technology platforms
- Produce Read Ahead Memos and bios in support of meetings and engagements at the highest level of the U.S. government, including within the Department of Defense, Congress, and foreign embassies
- Attend and track relevant Congressional actions, legislation, and government budgets and summarize relevant Congressional hearings, Executive branch reports, think tank webinars, industry events and provide read outs to WashOps team members
- Track government relations engagement data in Salesforce analytics platform
- Contribute to political and international risk assessments and policy analysis
- Staff and support internal and external WashOps hosted events as needed
- Gain experience interfacing with and supporting visits for high level executives to Washington, DC
- Provide general administrative support to the WashOps team
Qualifications And Education Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a undergraduate or graduate degree with an interest in policy related to defense, civil aviation and/or healthcare; interest/experience in defense, national security, international relations, or security studies; basic knowledge of Congress and Federal agencies
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate efficiently and effectively
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities and deadlines, enthusiastic, and able to manage independent work
- Excellent communication, writing, administrative skills, and attention to detail
- Must be based in the Washington, DC area
- Must be a current student
- Due to U.S. Government contact requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role
- Must provide proof of current enrollment and transcripts
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
Security Responsibilities
Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.
- Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
