Reports to: Solution Architect Manager
Join Cathay as a Senior Solution Architect under the Customer Travel and Lifestyle Solution Centre. You will be responsible for shaping end‑to‑end solution architectures that translate business demand into scalable, secure, and well‑integrated technology solutions. Working closely with Enterprise Architects, portfolio leaders, and delivery teams, you will guide solution planning from early demand assessment through design, integration, and delivery, while ensuring alignment with Cathay’s enterprise architecture standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Solution Architect Managers, Portfolio Solution Managers, and Enterprise Architects to assess business demand at the pre‑prioritisation stage, including requirements analysis, solution planning, prototyping, and impact assessment.
- Take a holistic view of package‑based business solutions to ensure seamless integration across application and infrastructure landscapes.
- Consolidate and synthesise inputs from vendors, SMEs, product managers, business analysts, and system documentation into clear architectural artefacts and viewpoints.
- Partner with application and infrastructure teams to define high‑level and conceptual designs that guide successful project delivery.
- Analyse enterprise business context, strategy, and project requirements to shape solution architecture across business, information, and technology domains.
- Develop and evaluate solution options, balancing functional and non‑functional requirements, risk, cost, and business value.
- Work with Enterprise Architects and delivery teams to align solutions with enterprise architecture, facilitating decisions where exceptions are required.
- Ensure architecture designs are well‑documented in accordance with EA frameworks and promote reuse through shared standards and artefacts.
- Provide consultancy on performance optimisation and support production issue resolution when required.
- Lead and mentor junior Solution Architects, contributing to the continuous improvement of solution architecture practices and standards.
Requirements
- Degree holder in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of IT experience, including at least 5 years of hands‑on solution architecture experience in large‑scale strategic programmes or projects (e.g. budgets exceeding HKD 100M).
- Broad exposure to multiple technologies and diverse processing environments across enterprise systems.
- Strong proficiency in cloud‑based architecture and modern design frameworks.
- Solid practical experience or strong working knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF.
- Demonstrated ability to think conceptually and simplify complex problems through abstraction.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior and executive‑level stakeholders.
- Proven ability to translate business needs into clear, effective solution architecture requirements and define multiple solution options.
- Good understanding of the distinction between enterprise and solution architecture, as well as application development methodologies (e.g. SOA, OOAD, client/server).
- Sound knowledge of financial models, budgeting principles, and a strong passion for continuous learning and emerging technologies.
