Role Introduction
Reports to: Network Senior Lead
As a Network Engineer, you are responsible to support the strategic goals of Digital workplace & Network team and perform design, build and support and corresponding transition, change management, release management, pro-active maintenance and service request to IT network infrastructure & platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Leverage key technical skills to ensure the IT infrastructure asset is built and maintained in an efficient and cost-effective manner
- Develop and input into key technology Infrastructure Engineering Lifecycle documentation, such as component version and patch management decisions
- Effectively manage the technical implementation and subsequent change on the IT infrastructure asset, while tracking infrastructure requirements and managing technical change throughout the delivery life cycle
- Make strategic decision on how to leverage enabling technologies to implement innovative IT infrastructure solutions to support the business
- Provide support with the resolution of operational incidents, and determine the root cause of the problem
- Schedule and actively manage business as usual changes within the IT infrastructure asset to deliver a best-in-class level of successful change
- Collaborate with upstream stakeholders such as solution architects and IT strategy teams, as well as other IT domains to ensure alignment with the strategic roadmap and drive business and technology innovation
- Maintain timely and accurate communications with Project Managers, ensuring risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies are tracked, and communicate proposed design solutions and trade-offs to stakeholders
- Keep abreast of latest IT infrastructure technology trends, corporate strategy, business plan and industry trends, while building and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and delivery partners
- Proactively draw out and evaluate requirements from stakeholders, reconcile conflicting information, provide technical advice to IT colleagues, and be available to provide 24/7 support as required
Requirements
- Technical degree holder with minimum of 6 years IT experience, at least 3 years of IT Infrastructure experience
- Must have proven technical experience of working in a complex IT infrastructure environment
- Ability to listen and articulate ideas verbally, and in the written form, to a broad range of audiences; ability to ask probing questions and deliver technical internal presentations
- Ability to work well with others and as part of a technical team
- Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills, leveraging both logic and creativity; strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills; ability to identify patterns and generate informed ideas
- Focus on the business and end user’s needs; ability to set expectations and understand end user behavior
- Ability and willingness to proactively accept, and drive, change to accomplish positive outcomes
- Ability to understand strategy and align tactical and strategic work in a well balanced way
- Must have knowledge of how to lever technology to reduce operational costs and delivery business innovation in a fast moving and dynamic industry sector
- Professional competency in at least one technical specialization, with broad understanding of other current and emerging technologies
Desired Skills
- Solid hands-on technical skills in multi-cloud environments
- Experience with Multi-VRF and dynamic routing network environments, including cloud Layer 4–7 load balancers (AWS, Azure, AliCloud)
- Experience managing interconnection between cloud and on-premise environments
- Experience handling cloud network security groups and traditional Layer 4–7 firewalls and load balancers
- Experience with VPN solutions, including remote access, site-to-site, and Dynamic Multipoint VPN (DMVPN)
- Strong troubleshooting experience across wide area network (WAN) and local area network (LAN) environments
- Knowledge of software-defined networking, cloud networking, two-factor authentication, network hardening, and security scanning
- Hands-on technical skills in routing and switching, with knowledge of data centre operations
- Experience with intrusion prevention systems/intrusion detection systems (IPS/IDS), host-based firewalls, and network access control (NAC) / authentication, authorisation, accounting (AAA) frameworks
- Experience with Wi-Fi controller solutions; certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty preferred
