Position Summary
The Supervisor Learning Design provides leadership to the team that designs and develops educational programs that will address the needs of JetBlue crewmembers, while fulfilling Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements for regulatory and non-regulatory training programs. The Supervisor is also responsible for leading the design and development of eLearning, video, and other instructional solutions for JetBlue University (JBU), as well as, supporting corporate learning solution initiatives. Additionally, the Supervisor helps guide the learning strategy for JetBlue University, including technology based solutions, and adult and corporate learning.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the team that supports all functions of learning design, including but not limited to, Advanced Qualification Program (AQP) compliance and execution, courseware development (Instructor led and eLearning), corporate learning initiatives, and the continuous design and implementation of technology based solutions for JetBlue University
- Lead and support professional development of content developers, instructional designers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and various other roles across JetBlue
- Assist with the central intake of training requests to JetBlue University, including conducting performance consultations, proposing training solutions, determining scope of projects, and prioritizing and resourcing training projects
- Partner with JetBlue University peers to support and withhold consistency among JBU programs, processes, and products, and ensure that the programs support regulatory requirements, corporate goals, and are instructionally sound
- Support other divisions of JetBlue University and internal customers by collecting feedback, partnering with the learning analytics team to review data, and recommending solutions for program and/or system improvements
- Ensure partnerships with the learning analytics team to measure impact and effectiveness of training solutions
- Maintain relationships with business partners who assist the Learning Design team with design and development of JetBlue training solutions
- Market and communicate support services provided by Learning Design to JetBlue University and to our operational clients
- Promote and model quality standards for instructional design and development and stay informed of new trends and research in learning, educational technologies, and innovations in the training space
- Provide support to large scope training learning technology projects and business case development
- Collaborate with other JetBlue Airways departments on educational related projects
- Support team initiatives including, but not limited to, team culture events, professional development opportunities, and participating on/leading informal teams that support team improvements and efficiencies
- Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design or related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with the combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
- Three (3) years of training experience
- Three (3) years of experience leading or managing projects with multiple stakeholders
- Experience with education program management, adult learning principles and curriculum development
- Experience with project management
- Available for overnight travel (10%)
- Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience And Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Instructional Design or related field and at least two (2) years of work experience conducting performance consultations and needs analyses
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience leading a team in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Learning Management Systems
- Experience with a part 121 air carrier
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Expertise of adult learning principles, leadership development best practices, and related theories with the demonstrated ability to translate it into practical application

- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
