Role Introduction
Reports to Airport Manager.
To oversee and supervise the daily assigned team member functions to ensure overall operations run smoothly and efficiently during the operational shift whilst conforming to established safety and security standards.
To deliver the best possible operation and airport service experience to ensure our customers always feel special, valued and recognised regardless of circumstance.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold corporate safety, security and quality policies, regulatory requirements and standards, supporting risk identification and mitigation and deputising as the Airline’s Operational Duty Holder when required.
- Oversee Ground Handling Agent teams supporting Cathay flight operations to deliver on-time, error-free operations and maintain operational standards.
- Drive operational excellence by supporting productivity standards, conducting flight briefings and contributing ideas to improve airport operations.
- Monitor operational quality and supplier service through Quality Control checks, supplier performance reviews, documented action plans and progress tracking.
- Deliver high-quality customer experiences by keeping teams current on product knowledge, supporting customer-service technologies and recognising highest-value customers.
- Manage flight disruptions and irregular operations using contingency plans, manual fall-back procedures and disruption management tools, ensuring customers are cared for, informed and given choice where possible.
- Motivate frontline teams and suppliers through collaborative teamwork, onboarding and probation support, role modelling, mentoring and on-the-job coaching.
- Support teams through new challenges and change while monitoring day-to-day performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Promote cost efficiency by monitoring daily productivity and flexible resource deployment, supporting efforts to reduce operational costs and assisting with station support duties.
- Represent Cathay’s interests with authorities, suppliers, service providers, oneworld partners and other airlines while supporting competition compliance and protecting the Company’s reputation.
Requirements
Academic Qualifications
- Graduation in any discipline is a must
- Diploma in operations management is desirable
Knowledge, Skills, Training And Experience
- Strong command of written and spoken English is mandatory with the local language being an advantage
- At least 3 years solid Customer Service experience, preferably in airlines or airport services
- Ability to work independently with good decision-making skills
- Self-motivated and committed leader who enjoys teamwork
- Very strong customer service mentality with strong interpersonal skills
- Sound technical knowledge and capability (multi-skilled) to perform each airport job function (requirement to pass all training arranged by ASD)
- Thorough understanding of Company policies and international regulatory procedures and all required local regulatory matters
- Ability to handle different operational modes such as normal operations, disruption, Emergency & Accident and contingency situations
- Adapts to and embraces constant change
- Candidates must have the legal right to live and work in South Africa.
