Job Description Summary The Sourcing Specialist will function as a Sourcing expert for multiple commodities for Aviation industry such as Casting, Machining parts, steel sheet & bar raw materials parts which are required for manufacturing products at GE Aerospace. This role will also support Sourcing Initiatives, New program competitive proposal submission & Execution & digitalizing Sourcing processes. It will also include in-country localizing, BCC sourcing of commodities by accessing & finalizing supplier, and getting best price with YoY savings to be competitive to enable wins for MMF. The person will be responsible for managing Sourcing spend, prioritizing opportunities and categorizing strategic spend across P&L to consolidate and drive deflation targets to business through strategic agreements with suppliers, engage with Global sourcing teams, Engineering teams, Product management teams & cross functional teams to execute strategies and ensure realization of business objectives that includes cost deflation, volume growth and adding potential suppliers by meeting compliance as per Aviation Sourcing policies.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Build strategies to increase deflation by negotiating with suppliers year on year, localizing parts or BCC sourcing with reduced lead time, best pay plus other terms & VMIs etc. by collaborating with global commodity teams, Site teams across Globe.
- Competitive negotiations to drive deflation with the supply base . Manage supplier contracts/agreements having detailed cost break up with clarity on cost driving parameters like RM, Fx etc. and /or e-auctions with preferred suppliers in the region to ensure that market trends, supplier performance, and future business needs are aligned.
- Build strategies to flawless execution of new programs to meet end customer timelines and agreed cost targets.
- Good understanding of manufacturing, fabrication & special coating processes commonly used in Aviation industry, Scout & Support in the evaluation and selection of new suppliers for aviation business.
- Shall be willing to work on transactional activities such as PO releases, Sourcing metric monitoring, data compilation and Supplier performance card preparation. These activities will be part of Standard work, Daily management, and Monthly rhythms.
- Development of existing suppliers, and overall supplier management; able to bring best solution amongst all options. Able to perform supplier risk assessment and build & manage supplier relationship.
- Monitor, forecast, and develop strategies to capitalize on macroeconomic and industry trends impacting the assigned commodity and business in region to minimize total material costs, ensure material availability, capacity, and quality
- Ensure competitive prices during pre-bids/NPIs and execute on time by getting released POs to preferred suppliers, be part of product development cycle and able to deliver sourcing deliverables.
- Hands on experience on various quality systems related to suppliers.
- Cost reduction strategies during the execution of projects to meet the deflation year over year target for the business.
- Interact with site teams to understand business needs and develop supply chain strategies that optimize total requirements
- Collaborate with supporting resources (engineering, quality, global supply chain ) to achieve plan including lead time reductions, cash enhancement, VMI etc.
- Build long terms & sustainable win-win relationships within supply partners
Qualification/ Requirements
- Bachelor’s Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Production from accredited college or university
- 6-10 years hands on experience in Sourcing Function with strong understanding of processes and quality assurance of aircraft engines & other aviation products / components
- Ability and willingness to travel as required
