Objective:
The role of the Principal Project Specialist is to work closely with the technical support team to establish and drive the project planning for the global operations initiatives. Project may include, but not limited to, process improvement, implementation of new manufacturing techniques or the burn down of held or late order to improve efficiency and effectiveness to support customer satisfaction.
The successful candidate will champion the needs of the aftermarket operation phase of the product to both the product portfolio team, who developed the product, as well as the Aftermarket Service and Support business, who are responsible for manufacture and shipment of spare parts.
Job Responsibilities:
- Establish project planning with the consideration of critical path, risk/opportunity analysis, cost analysis and agreed cross-functional prioritisation.
- Implementing monitoring measures once solutions are implemented.
- Provide metrics on performance of projects including On Time Delivery (OTD) and First Pass Yield (FPY).
- Continuous project reviews to ensure early identification of project slippage and defined containment planning.
- Champion the timely closure of past due order resolution by managing each project and ensuring the right level of priority and resources are assigned.
- Leading the Integrated Project Team (IPT) review of customer specific held items (engineering and sourcing issues but not limited to).
- Support the technical team with investigations into issues across operations and work cross-functional to understand Root Cause/Corrective Action.
- Documenting processes and standard work.
- Ensure robust root cause and corrective actions are being executed, as identified by technical team.
- Provide lessons learned back to manage on closure of project, to enable manager to feedback to product team to help eliminate recurrences of these issues.
Basic Qualifications:
- A university degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience.
- Related experience in an Operations/Material Planning environment.
- A good understanding of how to build and manage a project plan including constraints/risk identification.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrates ability to handle a variety of tasks and multiple priorities.
- Experience managing multiple projects involving the correct stakeholders to drive positive results.
- A knowledge and demonstrated practice of root cause and corrective action methods are essential.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of manufacturing is desired, but not essential.
- Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/or Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
- Experience leading teams within a matrix organization structure.
- Ability to think creatively and apply influential personality to foster strong relationships.
- Good organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Passionate desire to excel against demanding customer expectations.
