Reactor Assembly Section is accountable for the Reactor Assembly System, including Power Module, for both SSN-AUKUS and Dreadnought. The Section has responsibility for the System Design and Safety Case, for the Assembly Definitions, integrates and supports between Safety and Performance and the Component Design Teams, supports manufacturing and build through Design for X approach and will support integration and installation of the platform.
In parallel, you will develop and broaden your skillset, driving new product introduction and continuous improvement. You will also be responsible for implementing world class processes which meet business and customer requirements for Safety, Quality, Cost & Delivery and set the standard for the next generation of submarines design. This is a rare chance join a newly formed team with developing remits and that supports one of the most complex products delivered by the organisation. It’s a team with high levels of integration and required product knowledge. Where specific knowledge is not held there will be opportunity to undertake specific and on the job training to build the necessary skill.

What you will be doing:
Various activities are scheduled for SSN-AUKUS and Dreadnought in order to meet key customer milestones, these will require you to:
- Responsible for generating the design justification that support the design requirements and safety case
- Develop and manage requirements, integrating between relevant technical areas.
- Undertake complex technical assessment and analysis.
- Produce schemes, design definitions and BoM structures, and define and manage physical component and system interfaces, considering Dfx.
- Provide manufacture and build support, and undertake non-conformance assessments.
- Forge relationships internally and externally to deliver an integrated product, ensuring on-time delivery of projects to Control Account Manager and Project Leads to deliver on our promises.
- Develop close working relationships with the KTP to ensure the technical insertion knowledge transfer is undertaken successfully and efficiently.

To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria:
- Degree level in a relevant engineering discipline such as mechanical engineering.
- Prior experience in design or mechanical engineering is preferable, with understanding of Safety Cases, requirements capture, and production of definitions.
- Knowledge of Reactor Assembly systems and components is desirable.
- Good communication and presentation skills at all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to cooperate with multi-disciplined teams.
- Project Management skills desirable, with the ability to influence and coach other people.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
