Please note: This is a hybrid work position in Calgary Alberta and requires in-person collaboration at the WestJet Campus (22 Aerial Place NE) 3 days per week. This provides flexibility the remaining 40% of the work week. This hybrid work plan allows for critically important learning, collaboration and networking with our colleagues. Specific days in the office are agreed upon by the team.

Overview of the role:
Reporting to the Product Manager, IT Airport Services, the Intermediate Anaylst, Airport Systems is an intermediate level technical resource supporting multiple end user groups and project teams from the Airports business unit. You will be primarily engaged in the implementation, support, and sustainment of business application solutions for multiple critical Tier 1 applications. You will be responsible for incident management, root cause analysis and resolution, as well as project management, and business analysis. The analyst may be required to travel to locations throughout North America, Europe and Asia in a support capacity as well as for application certifications and project work.
Key deliverables include:
- Participates in the creation of project plans, reports, process flow diagrams, and requirements documentation for airport projects and initiatives.
- Works with resources from other IT teams, airport authorities, common use providers, WestJet business units, and application/interface vendors in the delivery of WestJet airport projects.
- Responsible for delivering effective and timely communications to project/initiative stakeholders (internal and external).
- Required to provide support for Production Airport Tier 1 Systems, including, but not limited to, DCS installations on Common Use platforms, CUSS Kiosk Check-In installations, CUSS Self Bag Drop Installations, WS Check In API (CI/API), Baggage Systems, Common Use Web Service (CUWS) API and CAE Airport AirCentre Suite of applications.
- Coordinate with WS IT teams, WS business units, external IT groups, and airport authorities to diagnose and resolve incidents reported within agreed resolution times.
- Responsible for the documentation of incident resolutions for supported airport systems.
- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of technical documentation for supported airport systems.
- Required to provide support for UAT/Test and Staging Airport Systems, including, but not limited to, DCS installations on Common Use platforms, CUSS Kiosk Check-In installations, CUSS Self Bag Drop Installations, WS Check In API (CI/API), Baggage Systems, Common Use Web Service (CUWS) middleware and CAE Airport AirCentre Suite of applications.
- Implement systems changes in accordance with WestJet ITSM policies and procedures.
- Required to maintain an on-call rotation and be highly available (24/7) during on-call periods.
- Required to work outside standard Canadian business hours when engaged on projects/initiatives with airports or IT groups outside the Americas.
- May be required to work on weekends/holidays as required by airport/airline schedules.
- May be required to work on projects, conduct incident support, and conduct application certifications in Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the European Union.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, management information systems, or equivalent through a combination of education and/or experience.
- Proficiency with Windows Server 2016/2019, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS Apache Tomcat, and IIS, Oracle DB, Azure Cloud, and AWS Cloud is an asset.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code and DevOps methodologies is an asset.
- Proficiency with workplace tools such as Office 365, MS Visio, MS Project, MS Teams is required.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), are essential in order to interact with vendors, support groups, and business groups.
- Highly organized and able to multitask in a high pressure, fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Experience working in a highly collaborative, team-oriented, environment.
- Solid understanding of ITIL processes and documentation standards.
- 3+ years in relevant technical area.
- Excellent time management skills, ability to manage multiple items
- Experience troubleshooting issues related to hardware devices like PCs, printers, scanners, etc.
- Familiar with ticketing and project management tools like, ServiceNow and ADO.
- Ability to take a proactive approach to identify problems, issues, and opportunities.
- Ability to propose solutions and new initiatives.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, accurate, concise, and professional manner, both verbally and in a written format
- Ability to create and maintain positive relationships with operational leadership and frontline agents.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn related technology and business process.
- Airline/Airport IT knowledge is nice to have.
