In a nutshell
As the Financial Accountant (Revenue) you'll assist in establishing, operating, and controlling the RPA & TBox accounting flows into the General Ledger (G/L) and to ensure effective business & regulatory reporting in conjunction with the Manager – Financial Accounting.
You will support in delivering accurate, reliable, and timely books of account for Virgin Atlantic (VAA) and Virgin Atlantic Holidays (VAH) in line with business requirements and recognised in accordance with IFRS.
Day to day
- Support month-end close, RPA, and TBOX interface reconciliations into the G/L, ensuring accuracy in VAH and VAA month-end positions.
- Collaborate with the team for accurate, timely WD3 airline and holiday revenue and cost entries in the G/L.
- Conduct and review accounting reconciliations, and identify improvements in processes and controls.
- Investigate urgent issues, providing recommendations aligned with IFRS and follow up on long-term solutions.
- Coordinate with Loyalty Accounting for proper classification, and ensure high-quality balance sheet reconciliations with clear account analysis.
- Audit select recommendations for compliance and identify opportunities to eliminate reconciliation issues.
- Collaborate with Revenue Accounts and VAH to reinforce reporting processes and address issues promptly.
- Represent the team on cross-functional projects, communicating issues and proposing backend solutions.
- Build strong relationships within the team, fostering a supportive environment.
- Flag potential system or procedural issues impacting reconciliation and accounting processes.
- Assist in audit file preparation and coordinate audit activities.
About you
- ACA or ACCA Qualified, with extensive IFRS experience, in particular IFRS15
- Excellent double entry bookkeeping skills and the ability to understand and discuss practical implementation of IFRS
- Ability to exercise independent professional judgement and problem-solving skills within an overall business context.
- Ability to understand, simplify and improve weak processes and controls ensuring efficient implementation.
- Ability to understand large complex data sets and advise the manager and team on key issues within the data.
- Proven capability to prioritize work, working under pressure and delivering to tight timelines.
- Ability to build relationships, allocate work effectively and manage through performance feedback.
