Job Summary

The Senior Manager Air Ancillaries will support our Purpose in their leadership of the FareandAncillaryProductsTeam. This Team owns the strategy, design, performance, and growth of air ancillary products, including boarding products, seat products, and other products like Unaccompanied Minors, Pets, and Excess Bags. This Team is responsible for the performance of these products, working to set targets and KPIs, establish reporting and performance monitoring, and course-correcting when necessary. The Senior Manager Air Ancillaries is a strategic thinker and effective communicator who is excited to drive the future of Southwest Airlines.

Responsibilities
- Build and lead a Team of product owners and strategists, and a seat map optimization team in managing the strategy and performance of air ancillary products
- Develop and oversee portfolio of air ancillary products and their go-to-market capabilities to ensure long term strategic portfolio revenue and growth
- Establish the vision, strategy, and goals for the Team and the air ancillary product portfolio, within the existing broader product portfolio, and drive execution against it
- Oversee the establishment of a seat map strategy, and develop a capability to manage and optimize the seat map to drive revenue, balancing with product goals, Customer experience and preferences, and Operations feasibility
- Maintain a perspective of desired product positioning in the market, actual position in market, and path to close key gaps
- Collaborate with Leaders, Finance partners, and others cross-functionally to establish performance expectations for air ancillary products (product performance KPIs, financial expectations, etc.), and facilitate regular reporting on key KPIs across products
- Partner with Financial Teams on the forecasting, ROIs, budgets and business performance goals and growth initiatives
- Develop and maintain plan to execute against performance expectations, including managing day-to-day product performance and maintaining long-term product and revenue growth plan
- Guide and oversee ad-hoc analysis and research as needed to support product goals, both within Team and working cross-functionally
- Work closely cross-functionally with Leaders and partners across the business to facilitate the required go-to-market support, capabilities, product enhancements, and resources to ensure delivery against product strategy and plan
- Build, interpret, and maintain business cases for air ancillary evolutions/improvements
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leader
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of finance and the airline industry
- Advanced skills in strategic thinking, growth planning, and cross-functional execution
- Skilled in product development, project and/or product management
- Skilled in business case development, cost/benefit trade-offs and return on investment analyses
- Skilled in driving change and supporting analytical value during the creation process while being able to ensure high quality
- Skilled in executive-level communications, with ability to communicate effectively by listen intently, question appropriately, influence outcomes, and articulate clearly in both written and verbal formats
- Skilled in formatting and presenting data and information
- Ability to be self-motivated and be able to perform with minimal direct supervision
- Ability to apply the right mix of processes and tools while being well equipped in strategy techniques, models, and tools
- Skilled in management of air ancillary products and/or seat map optimization
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
- Fully functioning, broad knowledge in
- Airline marketing or travel industry marketing
- Preferred: Experience in Excel, Tableau, Power BI
- Preferred: Strong executive level story-telling skills
- Preferred: Background in airlines
- Preferred: Exposure to Finance, RM, Digital, and/or Product functions
- Preferred: Experience in strategic business roles
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space workstation/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Travel up to 20% of the time
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $151,500 per year to $168,500 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
