The role
As a Head of Communication, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Responsible for the management of the Communications team, taking ownership and accountability for the delivery of the teams internal and external outputs.
Day-to-day, you’ll develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned to Sector and Group objectives with support from Group Director of Operational Communications.
- Provide strategic communications advice to the CEO of as well as the leadership team
- Oversight and responsibility for issues management and Sector crisis communications, working in partnership with key business stakeholders and escalating appropriately to the Group Director of Operational Communications and Group Director of Communications
- Planning and delivery of business milestone / show case events such as VIP visits, Sector/ Country and Group exhibitions, conferences and sponsorship in collaboration with Group Marcomms team e.g. RIAT, MSPO, DSEI
- Management of local media relations including proactive media outreach, press releases and media events
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with the nearest Babcock site as contractual location.
Essential experience of the Head of Communication:
- Extensive experience working in a communications role (corporate, internal and external), ideally gained within a large B2B focused organisation (5,000 employees+) with some international understanding
- Ability to navigate organisations with complex structures and disparate workforces that require a mix of channels to successfully receive messages
- Demonstrable track record of devising and implementing multiple successful projects, campaigns and events
- Project management, Co-ordination of working groups and maintaining agency relationships
- Experience leading and managing a team of Communications professionals
Qualifications for the Head of Communication:
- Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline (Communications, Business, Marketing, Journalism or English)
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IoIC, CIM, etc.)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
