As the Technical Specialist – Transmissions, you will be recognized as an authoritative source of technical expertise and advice in a local area within a business and viewed as a key member of the broader team of technical expertise by senior capability leadership. You will generate business benefits through the application of specialist technical knowledge within your area of expertise. As the Technical Specialist you represent a critical resource to the “run and maintain” activity of a business, taking an active role in resolving current problems. You will support other technical specialists to advance knowledge in their capability area.

Key Accountabilities:
- Support the development and execution of the strategy with respect to their area of specialty; is regarded as a thought leader
- Leads the definition of capability projects including capturing requirements, creating proposals, achieving stakeholder approval, acquiring funding, and aligning partner support
- Supports the development and application of new capabilities; leads capability development projects
- Leads the resolution of new and emerging technical, compliance, and business problems using analytical processes and professional judgement
- Proactively accesses internal and external networks of fellow specialists to further the understanding of the specialist subject; supports the implementation of strategic collaborative relationships
- Provides technical direction to peers and more junior professionals, and technical leadership to teams and projects within their specialty
- Supports the definition of skill and professional knowledge within their area of specialty; identifies, coordinates and delivers training; supports the development of other specialists; provides active mentoring
- Ensures appropriate policies, standards, and best practices are defined, shared, and adopted
- Leads the sharing of Best Practice; represents the area as an authority in their defined subject; provides concise justification for decisions; records and captures salient information in reports and systems
Basic Requirements:
- Associate degree in mechanical engineering with 7+ years of experience in mechanical design,
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, OR
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering with 3+ years of experience in engineering design, OR
- JD/PhD in mechanical engineering
- To be considered for the role, you must be a US Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in the function, operation, design, analysis, and verification of aerospace gas turbine mechanical components and/or systems.
- Demonstrated experience in progressing designs/changes through a gated review process.
- Expertise in aerospace power transmission components, including gears, rolling element bearings, shafts, and seals.
- Expertise in the following software applications: Siemens NX, Siemens Teamcenter, Microsoft Excel
- Expertise in dimensional tolerance stack-ups and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Desire to lead, coach, and mentor less experienced engineers.
