Role Introduction
Engineering’s role is focused on reassurance, keeping our people and our customers safe, ensuring that in every aspect of our operation we have industry leading performance and that our various fleet programmes are delivering to plan, budget and specification.

Line Maintenance is an operational critical section in the Engineering Department that supports the Company’s brand and business by delivering a safe, reliable and cost-effective line maintenance service to Cathay Pacific Airways as well as our third-party customers in the global network.
This role is to ensure the delivery of operational excellence at allocated station(s) to enable our customers with a safe and exceptionally reliable travel experience that supports our brand and business. This role is also accountable for the Engineering budget, operational and commercial performance at allocated station(s).
Key Responsibilities
Operational Accountabilities
- Manage the day-to-day engineering operation
- Ensure the maintenance carried out on Cathay Pacific Group and third-party aircraft meet the Company / Customer / Authority’s requirements and standards
- Review and implement local strategies to achieve effective, optimum planning and utilisation of station resources including people, equipment, facilities and aircraft spares
- Manage the availability, serviceability and cleanliness of station ground equipment, vehicles and facilities
- Manage and oversee third party supplier performance (technical, ramp services, de-icing, refuelling etc.) as the Operational Duty Holder
- Supervise and certify aircraft maintenance
- Ensure compliance with local Occupational Health & Safety standards and regulations / guidelines
- Perform local or overseas operational relief duties when required by the Company
- Manage contingency plans to support ad hoc operational requirements such as diversions, charters, ad hoc aircraft type changes, major disruption recovery etc.
- Any other reasonable task as requested including engaging in non-operational duties and projects
Business Accountabilities
- Review and implement local strategies to achieve effective, optimum planning and utilisation of station resources including people, equipment, facilities and aircraft spares
- Be accountable and responsible for meeting station productivity, costs, revenue and operating budget targets
- Embrace continuous improvement culture through quality innovation, teamwork, lean processes to drive operational efficiency, productivity and commercial improvement
- Identify potential customers and observe the local market for opportunities for cost effective and value added growth
People Development, Performance Management and Manpower Accountabilities
- Lead, support and encourage own team to achieve success
- Build a strong and motivated team, ensuring the right people are in place to foster positive team spirit and facilitate teamwork
- Demonstrate leadership and lead by example in accordance with Cathay’s core values
- Develop employees with high potential and identify learning opportunities to ensure appropriate training and development and execute succession plans
- Ensure that the necessary technical and management training is provided to enable employees to perform their allocated functions including providing local refresher training as required
- Maintain active and ongoing dialogue in relation to employee goals and individual performance
- Actively engage with employees to enhance communication and their understanding of department goals
- Enhance the employee experience in line with the role level and the internal brand promise
E&A
- Emergency and Accident and Crisis Response responsibilities as required
Requirements
Nationality
- Taiwan Permanent Resident or Taiwan Employment Gold Card holder
- People with Taiwan indigenous status are welcome.
Academic Qualifications
- Engineering degree or Aircraft Maintenance Licence (HKCAD or equivalent) with appropriate aircraft type endorsement
Knowledge, Skills, Training And Experience
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance industry in a certifying engineer or equivalent
- Experience in managing team and delivering high performance
- Demonstrable ability in leadership and understanding of business change process
- Ability on creating and maintaining a robust safety culture
- Ability to build strong and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven capability in cost control and budgeting
- Strong commercial and business acumen
