Senior NDE Auditor Role for New Pipeline Construction The Senior NDE Auditor will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of a new pipeline constructed within Alberta’s provincial boundaries. The position involves field-based auditing and inspection of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) processes, with a focus on compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project-specific requirements.
ResponsibilitiesThe NDE Auditor is responsible for conducting detailed audits and inspections of NDE activities, including:
- Reviewing and verifying NDE procedures, contractor qualifications, and examination results to ensure adherence to CSA Z662, client specifications, and AER requirements.
- Assessing the performance and calibration of NDE equipment used for methods such as Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT).
- Performing spot inspections of welds, pipeline joints, and other critical areas to confirm compliance with quality standards.
- Identifying non-conformances, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring proper resolution.
- Maintaining comprehensive documentation of audit findings, inspection results, and corrective actions for project and regulatory reporting.
- Providing technical expertise and support to project teams regarding NDE methods and standards.
- Collaborating with construction managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure consistent application of NDE practices.
- Monitoring health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance during NDE operations.
Required QualificationsThe individual must meet the following qualifications to effectively perform the role:
1. Education:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Advanced training in Welding Technology, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
2. Certifications:
- CGSB Level II certification in Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT).
- API 1169 Pipeline Construction Inspector certification.
- Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Level II certification.
- Valid certifications in H2S Alive, WHMIS, Standard First Aid, and Ground Disturbance Level II.
3. Experience:

- At least 10 years of experience in NDE roles, with a minimum of 5 years on major oil pipeline projects within Alberta.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pipeline construction codes and standards, including CSA Z662 and ASME B31.3.
- Strong background in auditing NDE subcontractors and interfacing with regulatory bodies.
