About The Role & Team
As an
Agile Practitioner, you will act as process leader for the team, guiding them to excel by fostering collaboration, autonomy, and continuous improvement while adhering to Lean and Agile principles and practices.
You will be accountable for enabling several kanban teams to deliver value efficiently, ensuring the adoption of good kanban, agile practices, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Reporting to the delivery lead in the Network area and a dotted line into the area’s Agile lead, you will be working with several teams in the Communication and Data Exchange portfolio, and a member of the Agile Guild.
What You’ll Do
- Act as a servant-leader, coaching and mentoring Kanban teams to optimize their workflow and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Facilitate events the team uses, such as stand-ups, retrospectives, and workflow reviews, ensuring they drive meaningful outcomes.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to refine backlogs, prioritize work, and set achievable goals.
- Analyze Kanban and Agile metrics (e.g., cycle time, lead time, throughput) to identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, self-organization, and accountability, enabling teams to operate with autonomy and efficiency.
- Mentor team members and stakeholders in Agile principles and practices, empowering them to embrace a growth mindset.
- Use Azure DevOps to manage workflows, track progress, and provide transparent reporting.
- Lead by influence, resolving conflicts and promoting team cohesion to maintain high morale and productivity.
- Drive the adoption of Kanban methodologies and practices while remaining open to tailoring approaches to team needs.
- Actively participate as a member of the Agile Guild, share and bring new ideas and best practices that enhance team performance and agility.
Qualifications
ABOUT YOUR SKILLS
- An experienced Agile Practitioner with 5+ years of experience in Agile environments and at least 3+ years of direct coaching, mentoring, or leadership in Agile teams.
- Proficient in Kanban methodologies, with a deep understanding of Lean, Agile principles, practices, and frameworks (e.g., Scrum, SAFe).
- Adept at interpreting Agile metrics (e.g., cycle time, lead time, throughput) to identify improvement opportunities and enhance team performance.
- Skilled in facilitation, with a proven ability to lead productive stand-ups, retrospectives, and workflow reviews.
- A strong communicator and influencer, capable of building relationships across all levels of the organization and advocating for Agile practices.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities to ensure timely delivery.
- A servant-leader who inspires and motivates teams to be self-organizing and accountable for their workflow.
- Experienced in using Agile tools such as Azure DevOps (preferred) or Jira to manage workflows, track progress, and report on team status.
- Passionate about continuous learning and improvement, with a track record of fostering a culture of mentorship and collaboration.
- Confident in conflict resolution and capable of navigating challenges to maintain team cohesion and high morale.
Nice-to-have
- Experience working in a scaled Agile environment, collaborating with multiple teams and stakeholders to align goals and manage dependencies.
- Familiarity with other Agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe, LeSS) to bring additional perspectives and adaptability to the role.
- A certification in Kanban - e.g. Kanban Management Professional (KMP), or similar.
