Johnson Service Group is recruiting for a
Lead Mechanical Engineer - Procurements to support this project.
Due to the requirements of federal government contracts, candidates must have U.S. Citizenship. Candidates must have active security clearance or the ability to obtain. This position is expected to be 100% onsite and per diem is available.
Job Summary:The Mechanical Lead will
support the Mechanical Engineering Group Supervisorin leading other Mechanical Engineers who will prepare design and procurement documents for the Sentinel Project. This position has technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating these assignments as they pertain to
plumbing, HVACsystems as well as unique requirement driven equipment. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills and proven problem-solving capabilities. Additionally, the ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), can be a “face” for the project, promoting our client's, quality, and safety values, to external partners including vendors, construction companies, and other subcontractors.
Education, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements:
- Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional work experience.
- Experience in procurement of mechanical equipment including development of technical requirements, technical evaluation of bidders, reviewing vendor submittals, managing vendors through delivery, and coordination of technical issues.
- Experience working on DOD government projects and with the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs).
- Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME NQA-1, or AS9100D.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide direction and technical guidance to discipline work group and assist the management of discipline work process execution and ensure technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
- Assist in the building of an inclusive team environment where all are able and expected to contribute to the maximum of their capabilities. Provide leadership and mentoring to team members.
- Establish or assist in establishing and maintaining work plans to ensure schedules are met and stakeholder requirements are satisfied. Create and track actions, estimate hours, and update schedules.
- Devise innovative approaches to solving problems from a variety of detailed technical options and assess cost implications.
- Contribute directly to the cost-effective design of plumbing and fire protection systems as well as unique requirement driven equipment.
- Identify major technical uncertainties and present solution options for management decisions.
- Serve as an advisor for the analysis and solution of engineering problems and interpret drawings, verbal instructions, and applicable codes relevant to project requirements and the ability to articulate explanations.
- Interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and the client in developing the design.
- Perform other related work as assigned by Mechanical Supervisor or Deputy Supervisors.
