Johnson Service Group (JSG) is recruiting for a
Lead Mechanical Engineer focused on the design of Plumbing and Fire Protection systems to support the Sentinel Program at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, UT. This program is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite and per diem is available. The targeted base rate is $90.00/hour for this role.
Job Summary:The Mechanical Lead will prepare design and procurement documents for the Sentinel Project. This position has technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating these assignments as they pertain to plumbing and fire protection systems as well as unique requirement driven equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute directly to the cost-effective design of plumbing and fire protection systems as well as unique requirement driven equipment.
- Identify major technical uncertainties and present solution options for management decisions.
- Serve as an advisor for the analysis and solution of engineering problems and interpret drawings, verbal instructions, and applicable codes relevant to project requirements and the ability to articulate explanations.
- Interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and the client in developing the design.
- Provide direction and technical guidance, assist in work process execution, and ensure technical adequacy in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
- Establish or assist in establishing and maintaining work plans to ensure schedules are met and stakeholder requirements are satisfied. Create and track actions, estimate hours, and update schedules.
- Devise innovative approaches to solving problems from a variety of detailed technical options and assess cost implications.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to team members.
- Perform other related work as assigned by Mechanical Supervisor or Deputy Supervisors.
Education / Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- 8+ years of experience in Piping and Instrument Diagram (P&ID) development, piping system design, pipe sizing calculations, and equipment specification and design development for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, DoD projects, or chemical process facilities.
- Experience withASME B31 codes, ASME BPVC, and International Plumbing Code used in design of piping and plumbing systems.
- Experience working on DOD government projects and with the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC's).
- Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME NQA-1, or AS9100D.
- U.S. Professional Engineering License (PE) in Mechanical Engineering (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
