Role Introduction
This role is part of our Engineering Department who are focused on reassurance, keeping our people and our customer’s safe, ensuring that in every aspect of our operation. we have industry leading performance and that our various fleet programmes are delivering to plan, budget and specification.
In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of high-value Airbus aircraft component programmes, powerplant assets, and nacelles, supporting the Cathay Group fleet. Working closely with key stakeholders, including MROs, OEMs, repair service partners, and suppliers, the role develops and executes strategies that optimise asset lifecycle cost while ensuring service levels and operational availability are consistently met. You will also manage the Component Value Engineering function, driving initiatives that enhance component reliability, reduce maintenance cost, and strengthen overall supply chain performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the budget and develop strategies to optimise the cost of ownership of aircraft components, powerplants, and nacelles while ensuring operational readiness and service level targets are consistently met
- Oversee component programmes and support service providers to ensure they deliver maximum value and meet contractual performance levels
- Manage the component repair cycle, improving turnaround time, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Develop tools and processes to identify cost drivers and highlight opportunities to reduce direct maintenance and lifecycle costs
- Collaborate with the Airline Procurement Department to develop and evaluate RFPs for component availability and repair solutions, and support aircraft and product acquisition projects to ensure cost and value protection are built into contracts
- Manage Component Value Engineering initiatives to improve component reliability, reduce cost, and enhance asset utilisation through technical and commercial levers
- Lead, develop, and coach the team, fostering strong cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders including Procurement, Finance, OEMs, and MROs
- Drive LEAN continuous improvement and digital adoption, enhancing planning accuracy, inventory optimisation, and overall supply chain resilience
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering / Aerospace discipline (or suitable equivalent)
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
- Broad experience in the aircraft component repair and engine overhaul market
- Strong commercial acumen
- Proven ability to lead and energise a team and deliver business improvement
- Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills
- Experience of using LEAN techniques to drive improvement initiatives
