Role Introduction
Reports to: Head of Procurement Operations & Sustainability
As part of the Procurement and Aircraft Trading team, you will shape how we secure Sustainable Aviation Fuel across key global markets to support our climate commitments.
As a Sustainable Aviation Fuel Procurement Manager, you will develop regional sourcing approaches, track market developments, and partner with internal teams to ensure supply options meet relevant compliance criteria. You will engage suppliers and partners, lead commercial negotiations, and manage long-term commercial and operational risks while strengthening Cathay’s position in the Sustainable Aviation Fuel supply market.
In this role, you will gain broad exposure across Asia, North America and Europe, and present sourcing updates and recommendations to senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the definition and implementation of the sourcing strategy for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in various regions in order to meet the discretionary and mandatory requirements for Cathay.
- Conduct market analysis and identifies trends that may have an impact on the future supply of SAF in those markets.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure SAF meets the compliance criteria.
- Lead the supplier engagement process, identifies opportunities for the supply of SAF and coordinates with various internal teams and external stakeholders to complete due diligence.
- Conduct tenders and subsequent negotiations with producers, suppliers, resellers and other stakeholder groups in various markets with a strong focus on assurance of supply and mitigation of long-term commercial and operational risks.
- Establishment of joint ventures or other forms of collaboration with other industry players when considered beneficial to projects.
- Prepare and present sourcing updates to senior management.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in SAF Procurement or supply chain
- Comprehensive knowledge of various SAF markets (mainly Asia, North America, and Europe) and their evolving landscape
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and basic contract law in various jurisdictions. Experience in physical trading is a plus and basic understanding of hedging practices is preferred
- Proven ability to navigate complex market dynamics and capitalize on emerging opportunities
- Entrepreneurial mindset, strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skills with a ‘hands-on’ mentality
- Strong knowledge of project management principles and practices
- Approachable and decisive; Excellent people skills; ability to inspire, build trust and influence internal and external stakeholders; Ability to build a strong network and secure Cathay’s position in the SAF supply market
- Demonstrate ability to define and implement strategies; Analytical and presentation skills
- Fluent in English (must) and fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese (preferred)
- Frequent international travel required; Right to live and work in the relevant jurisdiction
