What you’ll do:
Astronics LSI is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Human Resources Manager to provide leadership for the subsidiary’s Human Resources department. In alignment with Astronics corporate HR, they participate in and often lead the planning and implementation of HR policies, objectives, and initiatives. The Senior Human Resources Manager will play a key role in driving initiatives that foster a positive workplace culture and ensure compliance with legal and organizational standards across multiple sites.
The successful candidate will have experience managing all facets of human resources within a manufacturing environment, including recruitment, talent management, employee relations, performance management, compliance, payroll and organizational development.
The Senior HR Manager will oversee HR operations at three locations, ensuring alignment and consistency with company policies and processes, and provide guidance for specific HR and workforce challenges. This will also require the ability to travel between sites up to 20% within the US and Canada.
This role is primarily onsite in our East Aurora, NY office.
Your role will encompass:
Leadership & Strategic Direction:
- Collaborate with Corporate HR and the leadership team to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company’s mission, vision, and business objectives.
- Act as a trusted advisor and consultant to the leadership team on workforce planning, organizational design, employee engagement, and succession planning.
- Provide leadership on emerging HR trends and practices to continuously evolve the organization's HR effectiveness.
- Lead a team of HR professionals, providing mentorship, support, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Set team goals aligned with company objectives, oversee performance evaluations, and guide career development.
HR Operations Management:
- Manage and oversee the full spectrum of HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, training, compensation, benefits, compliance, and payroll.
- Develop and oversee implementation of LSI HR policies, programs, and processes to meet the needs of employees and the organization across sites.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws, regulations, and organizational policies across all locations.
- Implement and optimize HR technologies to streamline processes and improve efficiency
- Maintain departmental budget; understand departmental P&Ls
- Guide payroll and compensation processes, including compliance with applicable wage and hour laws and regulations
- Participate in the health and safety program, and administer workers compensation
- Manage the administration of the Federal Aviation Administration plan
Employee Relations & Engagement:
- Champion a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture that fosters employee engagement, development, and productivity
- Proactively handle employee relations issues, mediate disputes, and ensure proper resolutions
- Implement initiatives to support employee well-being, retention, and career growth opportunities
Talent Acquisition & Retention:
- Oversee strategies to attract and retain top talent in alignment with organizational goals
- Partner with department managers to identify staffing needs
Performance Management & Development:
- Design and continuously improve performance management programs and processes to drive accountability and professional development
- Work in partnership with training and learning teams to support programs that advance employee skills, leadership development, and long-term career pathways
- Support leaders in driving high-performance culture, including coaching managers on effective feedback and recognition strategies
Qualifications Required:
- US Citizenship (as required by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations - ITAR)
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in human resources, along with 3+ years of experience leading teams across multiple areas of HR
- Experience supporting HR processes in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, a related field, or equivalent work experience
- SPHR or SHRM SCP designation is a plus
- Proven ability to manage multi-state human resources functions
- Familiarity with Canadian HR practices is considered an asset
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, compliance requirements, and organizational development
- Advanced proficiency in HR software and tools, as well as data analytics to track workforce metrics and ROI
- Strategic mindset with the ability to develop and execute HR goals in alignment with organizational strategy
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to clearly convey HR initiatives and directives
- Ability to maintain professionalism and handle confidential information with discretion

Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary range: $100,000 through $150,000, influenced by several factors including experience, skill set, education, certifications, market conditions, and business needs.
