As a Product Owner Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting the development of loyalty and financial products, including the American Express Cobrand portfolio. You’ll work alongside experienced Product Owners, Analysts, and cross-functional teams to help translate business needs into product enhancements and customer experiences.
This role is designed for students who are curious about digital product development and want exposure to how strategy, analytics, and customer insights come together to build outstanding products.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with research and analysis that informs the product vision, roadmap, and feature prioritization for loyalty and financial products.
- Support product backlog management by helping refine feature ideas, writing draft user stories, and preparing acceptance criteria with guidance.
- Partner with product owners to document requirements and help coordinate cross-functional discussions with UX, engineering, analytics, and marketing teams.
- Help review customer and performance data to identify opportunities for product improvements and engage in problem-solving discussions.
- Shadow product owners during sprint ceremonies and participate in agile rituals to understand how digital work gets delivered.
- Contribute to presentation materials, updates, and deliverables that support partner and stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure compliance and risk management for financial products in partnership with legal and regulatory teams.
- Champion agile best practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Interest in digital product development and customer-focused problem solving.
- Ability to analyze information, communicate effectively, and work in a collaborative environment.
- Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
- Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Familiarity with agile concepts is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of payment systems, credit card programs, or airline industry is a plus.
