Job Description
The Airport Relations Specialist supports the Airport Relations team by providing administrative and operational support, including coordination of the RFP process and management of industry trade organization memberships. This role exercises independent judgment and discretion in executing complex assignments related to airport agreements, real estate development initiatives, regulatory coordination, and strategic programs that support the growth, stability, and long-term positioning of Signature’s global network of FBOs.This position serves as a central coordinator for how Signature Aviation engages with national trade associations and leverages those relationships to advance the company’s business objectives and reputation.
The Specialist contributes to policy interpretation, strategic analysis, and executive-level decision support. The role requires ongoing collaboration with senior leaders across Operations, Business Development, Sales & Revenue Management, Legal, and Finance, as well as external stakeholders. Responsibilities include reviewing, evaluating, and interpreting complex airport lease agreements and governance materials.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a key contributor to airport-focused strategic initiatives, including RFPs, RFQs, lease negotiations, and facility or business development efforts designed to expand and protect Signature’s airport network.
- Independently analyze solicitation documents and airport requirements, and develop substantive written inputs and recommendations supporting Signature’s value proposition.
- Represent the Airport Relations team at pre-proposal meetings, airport sponsor engagements, and industry events, exercising professional judgment and discretion.
- Lead cross-functional coordination efforts for airport development projects, synthesizing inputs from multiple internal stakeholders to advance projects efficiently and strategically.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis related to existing and prospective airport relationships, including review and interpretation of airport board actions, governance frameworks, airport layout plans, FAA materials, and public-sector documentation.
- Evaluate complex real estate development opportunities and prepare concise executive-level summaries, risk assessments, and recommendations.
- Analyze competitive dynamics at the airport, regional, and national level, including impacts to FBO operations and private aviation service providers.
- Plan, manage, and execute high-visibility grand openings and strategic events, exercising judgment over logistics, messaging, and stakeholder engagement.
- Serve as a professional representative of Signature at industry tradeshows and conferences, contributing to thought leadership and relationship development.
- Develop and manage components of the Airport Relations tradeshow and engagement budget, with accountability for adherence to approved financial parameters.
- Review, interpret, and validate airport lease agreements to ensure accurate representation of contractual terms across internal systems.
- Independently analyze and resolve discrepancies between lease agreements and lease accounting systems, coordinating with Legal and Finance as needed.
- Manage acquisition, organization, and interpretation of official airport correspondence and contractual documentation.
- Develop and administer complex project management plans, utilizing software tools to track milestones, deliverables, and risk items.
- Develop PowerPoint presentations, draft letters and other administrative support documents and tracking to support the entire Airport Relations team. Manage trade association sponsorship budget and leverage trade association membership benefits across the organization.
Additional Knowledge And Skills
- Understanding of the aviation industry, including a familiarity with aircraft and airport operations.
- Preference for preexisting understanding of private aviation, including the role of FBOs in servicing aircraft.
- Familiarity with contractual and legal language.
- Experience in organizing and orchestrating events, with an emphasis on tactical planning.
- Preferred familiarity with airport-specific subjects, including the structure of governmental entities, public financing, and the role of public/private partnerships.
- Natural curiosity to analyze and interpret vast amounts of information from disparate sources, ultimately developing well-articulated rationales and showcasing thoughtful decision-making.
- Ability to reconcile quantitative and qualitative information into focused recommendations.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree obtained or in progress (or equivalent), plus 3-5 year of practical experience in an aviation-related business or organization or equivalent combination of education and experience in airport relations/government affairs.
- Required proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong proficiency in verbal and written communication skills is required; preference for previous experience in reviewing legal documents. Applicants may be asked to provide a writing sample.
- Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to complex projects and problems.
- Ability to work under pressure and on defined deadlines.
