Safety Officer
Location: Malta
Travel: European bases with occasional international travel
About the Role GOOSE Recruitment is working with a leading international helicopter operator to appoint a Safety Officer based in Malta.
This is a key position supporting the Safety Manager, acting as the day-to-day focal point for safety across a multi-base operation throughout Europe. You will play a central role in maintaining and developing the Safety Management System (SMS), while ensuring compliance with EASA regulations across Flight Operations, CAMO, and Part-145 environments.
Key Responsibilities Operational Safety Support
- Act as the primary safety contact for daily operations
- Support the Safety Manager and escalate critical issues as required
- Work closely with Flight Operations, CAMO, and Part-145 Postholders
Safety Management System (SMS)
- Maintain and continuously improve the company's SMS
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments
- Monitor safety performance and KPIs
- Support emergency response planning and testing
Incident Reporting and Investigation
- Manage the safety reporting system, ensuring accurate and timely logging
- Assist with investigations, including root cause analysis
- Track and follow up on corrective and preventive actions
- Support management of change processes
Safety Training and Promotion
- Coordinate safety training across the organisation
- Monitor training compliance and effectiveness
- Promote a proactive safety culture and Just Culture principles
Multi-Base Operations
- Travel to operational bases across Europe
- Conduct audits and safety inspections
- Identify regional risks and ensure compliance standards are met
- Support wider HSE initiatives across operational sites
- Support occasional visits to international maintenance locations
Requirements
- Proven experience in aviation safety, compliance, or airworthiness
- Strong knowledge of EASA regulations (Part-OPS, CAMO, Part-145)
- Experience working within an SMS environment
- Background in auditing and/or incident investigation
- Ability to operate across international, multi-site environments
- Familiarity with systems such as Centrik is advantageous
- Willingness to travel regularly
