We are looking for a Head of Engineering Excellence to deliver extraordinary experiences for our customers.
This role is ideal for a strategic, results-driven, collaborative individual who understands how to define and lead Aeroméxico’s enterprise-wide Engineering Excellence strategy, ensuring the delivery of secure, reliable, scalable, and high-quality technology solutions across all digital products and platforms. This role establishes the standards, governance, practices, and capabilities that enable software quality, delivery automation, operational reliability, and security throughout the software development lifecycle. By integrating Quality Engineering, DevSecOps, CI/CD, Release Management, and Production Support into a unified operating model, the position drives faster time-to-market, improved customer experience, reduced operational risk, and continuous improvement across the Product Delivery Center. The role serves as a strategic partner to Product, Architecture, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and Delivery leaders, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, automation, and operational resilience that supports Aeroméxico’s digital transformation objectives.
Educational requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
Experience:
- Proven experience defining and leading enterprise-wide Engineering Excellence strategies that ensure software reliability, security, operational stability, and delivery excellence across digital products and platforms.
- Extensive experience establishing governance frameworks, operating models, standards, and KPIs for Quality Engineering, DevSecOps, CI/CD, Release Management, and Production Support.
- Demonstrated experience driving automation throughout the software development lifecycle while embedding quality, security, and operational controls into development and deployment processes.
- Experience ensuring production readiness, service reliability, incident prevention, and continuous improvement through proactive monitoring, root-cause analysis, and operational excellence practices.
- Proven ability to partner with Product, Architecture, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and Delivery leaders to balance speed, quality, security, and risk across enterprise technology portfolios.
- Experience building, developing, and leading high-performing engineering organizations while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
- Experience managing Quality and Engineering Excellence budgets, optimizing resource allocation, overseeing vendor performance, and maximizing return on technology investments.
- Experience governing strategic technology partners and managed service providers to ensure compliance with quality, security, service, and delivery expectations.
- Demonstrated accountability for production stability, operational readiness, service reliability, and reducing customer-impacting incidents.
- Experience defining and governing engineering performance metrics, including deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, service reliability, quality indicators, and operational performance.
Skills to succeed:
- Strong leadership and strategic planning capabilities to drive enterprise-wide engineering transformation initiatives.
- Deep knowledge of Quality Engineering, DevSecOps, CI/CD, Release Management, Production Support, and software delivery best practices.
- Expertise in engineering governance, software quality, operational resilience, and technology risk management.
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills with the ability to define, monitor, and communicate engineering KPIs to executive leadership.
- Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills across Product, Architecture, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and Delivery organizations.
- Ability to promote automation, continuous improvement, accountability, and engineering excellence across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong vendor management, budgeting, and technology investment optimization capabilities.
- Excellent communication, influence, and organizational leadership skills within complex enterprise environments.
