Role Introduction
Reports to: Dining Standards Enablement & Inventory Manager
Lead the operational management of the equipment and supplies that support Cathay’s onboard dining experience across our global network. Based in Hong Kong, you will oversee catering equipment, linen, beverages, wine, dry stores and related inventory, ensuring every station has the right stock while maintaining cost control and system accuracy.
Your work will connect forecasting and replenishment with warehouse operations, international freight, customs clearance and enterprise resource planning transactions. You will own relationships with equipment vendors, warehouse operators and logistics partners, while working closely with caterers, Commercial and Dining Performance to resolve shortages and protect flight delivery.
When shipment delays, customs holds or supplier failures put stock at risk, you will coordinate practical contingencies and keep operations moving. By strengthening inventory governance, supplier performance and logistics processes, you will help Cathay deliver reliable dining experiences across its network.
Key Responsibilities
- Own relationships with equipment vendors, warehouse providers and logistics partners, ensuring reliable service, cost control, contractual compliance and clear performance governance
- Develop forecasts and replenishment plans for catering equipment, linen, beverages, wine, dry stores and related assets across all stations, setting par levels, minimum and maximum thresholds, and safety stock in line with flight schedules and service requirements
- Prevent systemic nil-stock events by monitoring warehouse stock, turnover and asset lifecycles, identifying risks early and limiting overstock, shortages and obsolescence
- Oversee inbound and outbound shipments, including air and sea freight, customs clearance, logistics documentation and stock movements between warehouses and caterers
- Maintain accurate enterprise resource planning records for goods receipts, goods issues, cycle counts, reconciliations and month-end closing, alongside complete asset registers and audit-ready inventory data
- Validate supplier invoices for inventory procurement, freight and warehouse services with Commercial, and analyse consumption patterns to identify optimisation and cost-saving opportunities
- Coordinate contingency replenishment during shipment delays, customs holds and supplier failures, escalating systemic logistics risks, supplier underperformance and cost inefficiencies where necessary
- Collaborate with caterers and Dining Performance to confirm requirements, resolve shortages, prioritise stock movements and protect flight delivery, including during new-station launches and caterer transitions
- Ensure inventory operations comply with internal financial controls, safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Drive improvements in warehouse and logistics processes through automation, digitisation and simplification, while supporting sustainability and weight-reduction initiatives for equipment and dry stores
Requirements
- Hold a university degree in business, operations or a related field
- Bring at least five years of experience in project management, airline operations, logistics or supply chain
- Demonstrate strong communication, documentation and training skills, including the ability to translate business requirements into operational processes
- Apply excellent organisational and stakeholder-management abilities while managing multiple operational issues and priorities at the same time
- Communicate effectively in English and Chinese; proficiency in additional local languages is an advantage
- Work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines within a team and take a self-motivated, proactive approach to delivering results
- Use strong analytical, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Possess fundamental knowledge of international food-handling standards and the cultural awareness needed to build business and working relationships across Cathay’s geographic network
- Understand the relevant equipment, technology and procedures associated with this field of work
- Have working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, airport operations and catering systems
