Job Overview And Responsibilities
The Associate Developer plays the support role in creating and maintaining software solutions supporting United's business requirements. The Associate Developer's role is to develop, design, create, and modify software applications/systems to support core business functions. This individual will apply proven technical (standard methodologies and patterns), communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help develop/design/implement software applications/systems to maximize ITs benefit to United.
On the Travel Readiness team, the Associate Developer will be part of a team that is essential to the success of the customer’s travel journey. The Travel Readiness team is responsible for checking in customers, checking international travel documents and ensuring those customers are a green light to travel on their trip. The individual will build and enhance the Check In service layer software to meet the needs of our growing customer base and business demands.
- Design, develop and modify software applications/systems according to specifications
- Consults with Business Analysts and business partners on potential software solutions for business specifications
- Provides support to the software development leads (Senior Developer) during the design portion of the SDLC
- Support and tackle software systems as required, optimizing performance, resolving problems, and providing follow-up on all issues and solutions
- Develop appropriate software documentation as outlined in IDF
- Complete comprehensive unit testing on all developed/improved software
- Provides direction tools, technical and process support to less senior developers

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Technical or Scientific field
- 2+ experience in application design, development, installation and modification of software
- Knowledge and experience in developing APIs/services
- Knowledge and experience in SQL
- Being able to write code that successfully accepts user input and converts it into output
- Basic understanding of Git and GitHub
- Experience writing and running unit tests alongside code development in their local environments. Understands the value of unit tests from a conceptual level
- Exposure to the importance and methods behind non-functional testing such as Load Testing
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Preferred
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science
