Job Description:

The Director Market Maturation supports our Purpose by both leading a Team and the strategic efforts for improving revenue in key market areas. When a market comes into scope for the Market Maturation Team, they’ll work cross-functionally with Teams and Leaders in Marketing, Yield, Pricing, Network Planning, and other Commercial functions to identify the right combination of solutions to improve revenue. The Team’s work may include collaborating on Marketing campaigns, Pricing strategy, new Customer acquisition approaches, and more. As the Director in this space, this role will champion their Team’s work, build connections and strong working relationships with partners and stakeholders, and strive for continuous improvement. The Director Market Maturation and their Team are key players in Southwest’s ability to meet revenue targets, and they’ll help to pilot the future of Southwest Airlines.

Job Summary
- Responsible for the vision and strategic direction of the Market Maturation Team. Responsible for daily management of cross-functional market maturation efforts and accountable for achieving revenue improvement goals in focus markets. Ensure alignment with Commercial objectives and goals by ensuring high quality, comprehensive, and timely execution of market actions.

Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the development, alignment, and execution of cross-departmental actions across Commercial departments to improve revenue in focus markets
- Evaluate performance in focus markets against goals and adjust actions as needed
- Develop and communicate inventory strategies in focus markets
- Establish and socialize primary and enabling metrics for focus markets
- Establish effective processes for managing work and reporting on progress
- Socialize Customer Development passenger goals and revenue / passenger targets for focus markets to achieve financial targets
- Provide regular updates, both in writing and in person, to Sr. Leaders on progress
- Provide Legendary Internal Customer Service via communications with Commercial Leaders
- Provide thought Leadership on market strategies, both within Commercial and in coordination with other Departments

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the theories and concepts of pricing strategies and operations
- Knowledge of the theories and concepts of Revenue Management
- Knowledge of the theories and concepts of Inventory Management
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Skilled in understanding and applying information to contribute to the organization’s strategic plan
- Ability to work with, communicate to, and align market strategies with all levels of the organization
- Ability to clearly communicate market maturation strategies
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively and professionally with all levels of Internal Customers
- Ability to coordinate large, cross-functional efforts
- Ability to decipher competitors’ actions and determine the best response when necessary
- Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
- Ability to work extended hours as needed
Pay & Benefits:
- Competitive market salary from $180,350 - $200,400 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
