Team
The Employee Relations (ER) team provides specialist advice, guidance, and coaching to help managers handle employee relations cases and understand people policies across all levels of the business. With a focus on supporting managers, they offer training, practical toolkits, and easy-to-access resources to ensure fair and consistent outcomes while managing risks effectively. As part of the People Service Delivery function, the ER team is committed to delivering excellent support, encouraging manager self-service, and continuously finding ways to improve processes. They assist with a range of cases, including investigations, disciplinary issues, grievances, whistleblowing, discrimination, and performance management. The team also plays a key role in managing change projects like TUPE, redundancy, and redeployment, providing guidance, updating documentation, and supporting meetings to ensure everything runs smoothly.
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Head of People Service Delivery, the Employee Relations (ER) Manager will play a key role in building and maintaining strong employee relations across the UK network. You’ll look for opportunities to improve our approach, find innovative ways to deliver better support, and ensure we’re consistently meeting the needs of our stakeholders and customers. Working closely with HR Business Partners, you’ll help develop strategies to strengthen employee engagement and build confidence in our management teams by ensuring they’re supported by a skilled and knowledgeable ER team.
In this role, you’ll also handle complex and sensitive employee relations cases, step in during crisis situations, and manage escalations from senior leaders. Using data and insights, you’ll identify trends, drive improvements, and ensure the team delivers meaningful outcomes. You’ll oversee team development, lead training plans, contribute to policy updates, and manage employment tribunal cases. Collaboration will be key, whether it’s engaging with unions, consultative groups, or wider teams, and you’ll ensure clear, thoughtful communication underpins every aspect of your work.
What You'll Bring To The Team
You’ll have solid experience in Employee Relations, with a background in advising on complex and high-risk cases, as well as leading teams through challenging situations. You’re confident managing large-scale business changes that have significant ER impacts and comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels, including unions and consultative groups. You’ll be able to draw on experience applying employment law changes to real-life scenarios and know how to communicate clearly and adapt your style to influence others effectively. Organised and detail-focused, you can juggle competing priorities while using data and insights to drive improvements. You’re also familiar with MS Office and HR systems, have a strong knowledge of UK employment law, and are willing to travel across UK base locations when needed.
