About the team you are joining
The
Senior Manager, Sustainability Consulting will spearhead the strategic growth,
business development, and execution of consulting projects within the airline
sustainability domain.
This
role focuses on driving impactful solutions aligned with achieving net-zero CO2
emissions and broader environmental goals, working closely with global
airlines, airports, and other stakeholders.
What your day would be like
Reporting
to the Principal Sustainability Consulting, the Senior Manager is expected to:
- Expand IATA’s consultancy services in aviation sustainability, focusing on decarbonization, SAF, carbon markets, and ESG reporting, while aligning business strategies with sales and marketing efforts. This effort should be done in strong alignment with the IATA vision for Sustainability and Economics.
- Identify competitive and non-competitive consulting opportunities in the aviation sustainability domain, develop responses to expression of interest/contract proposals, and negotiate, until execution, consulting projects and contracts in line with the budgetary targets.
- Develop and negotiate contracts for external subconsultants, including pricing, specification, and resource allocation.
- Manage the execution and delivery of aviation consultancy projects in the sustainability domains (project size varying between $100k and $500k) using best practices and managing teams of IATA Consulting staff, IATA Subject Matter Experts and external subconsultants.
- Participate to projects as Subject Matter Expert, prepare reports and deliver presentations to clients.
- Prepare annual budgets and monthly financial projections; submit reports and regular updates on progress, accomplishments, financial status and plans as requested.
- Maintain knowledge of the latest trends and developments in aviation sustainability and provide expert advice on products and services delivered by IATA.
- Design new consulting solutions as part of IATA’s New Product Development initiative, and in collaboration with the Marketing Department, formalize associated promotional material and marketing campaign.
- Participate in promoting aviation sustainability consulting activities at various events, industry groups meetings, conferences, and forums to generate awareness and increase the uptake of consultancy services.
We would love to hear from you if
- You possess a university degree (Masters or PhD) in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Air Transport / Airline Management or Aerospace Engineering;
- At least 10 years of experience in the aviation or sustainability sectors, demonstrating a strong background in consulting or project management, including at least 2 years of direct involvement in an airline sustainability team or similar function.
- Expertise in aviation sustainability, including SAF, lifecycle emissions assessment, corporate footprint, net zero strategies, carbon markets, and ESG reporting.
- Strong knowledge of international sustainability frameworks (e.g., CORSIA, ICAO regulations, SBTi, CSRD, EU-ETS).
- Proficiency in using data analysis tools and sustainability frameworks for monitoring and reporting.
- You have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to write reports in English and present them to senior executive managers.
