Role Introduction
Reports to: Digital Enablement Manager – Integrated Operations Delivery
Cathay has established an Operations Planning team (OPN) with the vision to “orchestrate operational excellence through cutting-edge planning solutions, digital innovation, and insights, enabling Cathay to become the world’s most resilient and efficient airline”.
Within OPN, the Operations Performance & Optimisation focuses on enhancing Cathay's Operations Planning and Delivery by implementing advanced digital optimisation capabilities, aiming to improve Cathay’s operational performance holistically.
Within the team, this role is responsible for the end-to-end product management and delivery of capabilities that provide a single, intuitive, and actionable operational picture for Cathay's Operations & Service Delivery (OSD) teams. The Product Lead will transform fragmented data into cohesive situational awareness, enabling proactive operations monitoring and seamless cross-functional collaboration through the Ops360 application and integrated frontline tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Delivery: Own and execute the product roadmap for the Situational Awareness stream, developed in alignment with the overarching Integrated Operations Delivery programme strategy, including the Ops360 app (airport, flight, alert views) and the integration of disparate operational systems
- User Experience & Workflow Design: Act as the voice of the frontline user, leading the design of intuitive user interfaces and workflows that present a cohesive operational picture and enable effective decision-making with the Ops360 app and Operations Decision Model (ODM)
- Technical Collaboration & Delivery: Act as the primary business liaison for the IT Scrum teams and/or external vendors, translating business requirements into clear user stories, prioritizing the product backlog, and guiding the technical implementation to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of product increments
- Business Transformation & Change: Drive the adoption of new ways of working by collaborating with OSD teams (IOC, Airports, Engineering) to redesign operational processes around the new digital capabilities, acting as a change agent
- Cohesive Product Design: Work closely with the AI & Predictive Operations Insights Product Lead to define requirements and ensure AI-driven insights are seamlessly integrated and actionable within the Ops360 user interface
- Stakeholder Management: Engage extensively with OSD teams to gather feedback, prioritize features, and ensure the product meets evolving operational needs, balancing competing demands from different user groups
- Value Realisation: Define and track product-specific KPIs to measure adoption, usability, and the contribution to operational performance goals
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Aviation Management)
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in product management, with a proven track record of delivering complex digital products in a fast-paced operational environment
- Strong airline operations background is highly advantageous, with direct experience working with or within teams such as Integrated Operations Centre (IOC), Airport Operations, or Flight Operations
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels, from frontline staff to senior management
- Demonstrated experience in business process re-engineering and driving significant change in operational contexts
- Innovative and user-centric mindset, with the ability to translate operational pain points into effective digital solutions
- Experience with agile delivery methodologies and a solid understanding of system integration concepts
