Position Summary
The Strategic Communications Manager create, implement and oversee communications programs and events, be it internal or external, that effectively describe and promote the organization and its products/services. This role provides supervision and direction to staff and often works in conjunction with the Commercial department. The post holder needs to ensure that all materials present a clear, unified and positive image for the company and/or brand. He/She also plans, prepares and distributes original promotional content such as articles, news and press releases, email, social media posts and other updates on behalf of the organization.
Strategic communications is important because it helps organizations effectively communicate specifically targeted messages, goals and values to key audiences to achieve identified objectives. This can include building support for a particular policy or initiative, shaping public opinion or managing a crisis.
Key Accountability
- Media relations - Develop and maintain rapport with local and international media to ease external publicity programmes on MASkargo products and services through press release and publications.
- Advertising, Promotions & Branding - Develop effective advertising and promotional activities as well as the enhancement of the corporate brand, various communications programmes and to uphold the image of company at all times.
- Event Management - Plan and organise events according to company's requirements i.e. product/service/station launch, staff appreciation, agents' awards night, etc.
- Stakeholder Management - Initiate and manage dialogues, meetings and presentations with customers (Agents and Shippers), cargo industry representatives as well as government authorities eg. MOF, MOT, MITI, MIDA and MICCI
- Internal Communications - Initiate and manage MASkargo’s internal communications activities
Qualifications & Working Experience
- Degree in Mass Communication/Public Relation/Marketing/Event Management with 5 years of working experience in Communications, and/or
- Professional Certificate in Mass Communication/Public Relation/Marketing/Event Management and/or
- Diploma in Mass Communication/Public Relation/Marketing/Event Management with 7 years of working experience in Communications
Area of Experience
- Excellent communication and language skills especially in English
- Understand the workings of the media & local & international, print & electronics as well as social media
- In-depth protocol knowledge of different cultures.
- In-depth knowledge of cultural sensitivities
