What Will You Be Doing?
The Senior Director, Architecture, Cloud & Services, is responsible for the strategic direction, leadership, and management of the Architecture, Cloud, and Middleware services. This role oversees the company’s computing, networking, cloud platforms, and middleware development—ensuring the technology foundation required for safe, secure, and continuous business operations. The Senior Director will lead and grow a team, driving operational excellence, system performance, availability, scalability, and cloud governance, and costs.
Essential Functions
- Lead the development and execution of cloud strategies aligned with business goals
- Direct short- and long-term planning for cloud operations and services.
- Evaluate and enhance the effectiveness, security, and efficiency of existing cloud platforms and IT operations.
- Own and evolve the company’s application architecture, including data centers, servers, virtual networks, storage, backup, and devops solutions.
- Collaborate with technology leaders and managers and key business SMEs to help develop and implement a scalable, reliable, and secure enterprise platform which serves as foundation to application solution development at Frontier.
- Lead the Architecture team responsible for Architecting a scalable and robust network design to support reliable operations.
- Drive initiatives related to virtualization, VDI, hybrid cloud, and application architecture.
- Establish and manage service levels for cloud in partnership with business stakeholders and cloud vendors
- Lead SLA management, capacity planning, business continuity, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Maintain compliance with external regulations and internal IT governance policies.
- Develop and manage a multi-million-dollar budget and drive cost-efficiency.
- Lead RFP processes, contract negotiations, and infrastructure portfolio management.
- Monitor and manage cloud availability, capacity, performance, reliability, accessibility, and recoverability.
- Leverage cloud advantages to increase throughput in delivery and quality
- Promote engineering excellence and guide high-level systems and application architecture decisions.
- Encourage a culture of recognition, development, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Select, train, and evaluate staff; provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback.
- Communicate management direction, company objectives, and departmental goals to staff.
- Identify issues and lead development of strategic infrastructure and operations solutions.
- Actively participate in compliance activities, risk assessments, and audit support.

Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including 5+ years in infrastructure and cloud operations at the director level or above.
- 10+ years of hands-on lcoud experience in Azure and/or Cloud
- 5+ years in EDP evaluations, cost savings, or compute savings experience
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (advanced degree preferred or equivalent experience).
- Airline industry experience is a plus but not required.
Desired expertise: Designing high-throughput, low-latency, highly available services on AWS/Azure/GCP; multi-cloud or hybrid reference architectures; Kubernetes (EKS/AKS/GKE), container orchestration, and service mesh (e.g., Istio/Linkerd); serverless patterns and eventing (Lambda/Functions/Cloud Functions; SNS/SQS/Event Grid/Pub/Sub; Kafka/Kinesis/Event Hubs); API management and developer platforms (APIM/Apigee/Kong), contract-first APIs, and reusable enterprise services; data architecture for OLTP/streaming (Aurora/CosmosDB/Spanner, Redis/Memcached, BigQuery/Snowflake, CDC/replication); observability (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, CloudWatch/Cloud Logging/App Insights), SRE practices (SLOs/error budgets), IaC (Terraform/Bicep/CloudFormation), GitOps/CI/CD (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps/Argo), security/IAM (OIDC/OAuth2, workload identity, KMS/HSM), networking (VPC/VNet design, PrivateLink/peering), DR/multi-region strategies, performance tuning, and FinOps. Experience building and scaling enterprise platforms for broad internal consumption—golden paths, paved roads, self-service portals, and reference implementations—is critical. Role is based in Denver, CO.
