Role Introduction
The Finance Business Partner – Cabin Projects sits under Cathay’s Financial Services Department, mainly responsible for managing the financial aspects of Cathay cabin projects, including leading annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and consolidating project financial data. The Finance Business Partner will be required to monitor daily financials, oversee payments to vendors, maintain cost tracking, and prepare financial reports. You will also be responsible for refining end-to-end financial processes, maintaining accurate accounting records, and providing insightful financial schedules and portfolio updates to various committees.
Key Responsibilities
Project Finances
- Lead financial processes for all Cathay fleet cabin programmes, maintaining detailed individual project views as well as a consolidated group overview
- Lead cabin projects annual budget and monthly rolling forecast exercise; and lead consolidating project financial data across projects
- Monitor day-to-day financials of projects, including payments to vendors as per terms under relevant contracts and near-term cash payment forecasts; and conduct detailed analysis on project spend as required by Portfolio Head or Project Steering Committee
- Maintain cost tracking of projects and progress to completion, leveraging SAP automation opportunities where feasible
- Lead the preparation of project related monthly, interim and annual schedules and reports, leveraging SAP automation where possible; and refine project related end-to-end processes to align with company-wide accounting practice
- Develop and manage appropriate financial accounting records, management information and reports for projects; and manage project financial reporting updates for group Finance Committee or Investment Committee reporting as required by corporate finance
Financial Portfolio Management
- Provide financial schedules for management reports and cabin budget-specific insights on the health and progress across the portfolio with updates to Project Steering Committee as appropriate
- Support Head of Portfolio Management – Cabin Projects and Group Opportunities and Risks Department in development of new project risk registers including risk-weighted financial risk consolidations; and support new contract negotiations as needed, particularly review of finance related terms
Project Governance
- Support Head of Portfolio Management – Cabin Projects on analyses, as required, to highlight changes in scope, benefits or cost of projects underway
- Ensure that all projects follow appropriate standards and comply with all corporate finance governance requirement, including identifying when risks or changes require Investment Committee notifications
Requirements
- Relevant degree and/or experience in Finance or Business. Professional accounting qualification such as CPA will be required
- Minimum 8 years of finance experience, project management or PMO experience (managing projects, budget and financial tracking and issue resolution)
- Experience of preparing and reviewing business projects will be required
- Sound grasp of financial principles of project evaluation and business acumen
- Excellent presentation, facilitation and influencing skills with high standard of written and spoken English. Strong communication skill to all levels in the organisation and agility to work within a team environment
- A quick learner with the ability to work independently, be self-motivated and attentive to details
- Strong analytics and reporting skills in producing reports, documentation and presentation
