Provides strategic leadership across multi-team and multi-function operations at the Delta Flight Museum, ensuring strong financial performance, operational excellence, cultural stewardship, and exceptional guest, member, donor, and partner experiences. Champions the museum’s mission, heritage, and brand while aligning with DPS and Delta enterprise standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Organizational Leadership
- Establish long-term strategic priorities, annual operating plans, and measurable objectives across assigned museum portfolios.
- Translate enterprise strategy into functional goals for sales, finance, operations, exhibits, archives, volunteers, or public programs.
- Oversee P&L elements including revenue growth, cost management, forecasting, and financial sustainability.
- Lead leaders, guide succession planning, and develop high-performing teams.
Financial & Resource Stewardship
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, grants, donations, and project funding (capital and operational).
- Monitor financial performance with effective controls, reporting, and scenario planning.
- Support revenue growth strategies including sales programs, events, memberships, retail, donations, and partnerships.
- Optimize resources across departments to support museum priorities.
Operational Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
- Govern safety, regulatory compliance, records management, and audit readiness across functions.
- Mitigate risk through effective policy enforcement, asset protection, collections stewardship, and operational oversight.
- Ensure maintenance, visitor services, exhibit operations, archives, and technology systems operate within standards.
Cross-Functional & Enterprise Partnership Leadership
- Sponsor major initiatives in technology, digital transformation, customer experience design, accessibility, and museum modernization.
- Manage key external relationships with donors, sponsors, boards, community organizations, and Delta enterprise partners.
- Oversee vendor contracts, service agreements, and professional partnerships that support museum operations and guest experience.
Program, Exhibit, and Mission Advancement
- Provide leadership for exhibits, public programs, collections, archives, educational activities, and community engagement (as applicable).
- Ensure alignment with museum mission, Delta historical accuracy, and brand integrity.
Change Leadership & Culture Development
- Lead organizational change initiatives, including integrations, system upgrades, restructures, and process modernization.
- Cultivate a culture of safety, inclusion, innovation, and service excellence consistent with Delta values and DPS standards.
- Promote talent development, internal mobility, and long-term bench strength.
Success Measures
- Achievement of revenue, cost, and margin targets across assigned portfolios.
- Safety, audit, and compliance outcomes demonstrating high operational integrity.
- Performance scores across operational KPIs (SLAs, productivity, guest experience).
- Health of talent pipelines, retention of high performers, and leadership readiness.
- Successful delivery of strategic initiatives, measured by adoption, ROI, and schedule adherence.
- Growth and satisfaction of key stakeholders including donors, partners, sponsors, and Delta enterprise collaborators.
What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- 5 -7 + years of progressive leadership experience in museum management, aviation heritage, finance, operations, attractions, hospitality, or professional services.
- Demonstrated success managing complex operations, budgets, and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong executive communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to lead transformation, modernize processes, and deliver results at scale.
