Johnson Service Group is hiring for a NETWORK ENGINEER Location: Manassas, VA (20109) – on-site required. (On-site work at a data center as well as working from the designated office will be required.) - Remote work possible when situation arises, or sites closed. Key Responsibility Support and troubleshoot Cisco enterprise network infrastructure. Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches. Support VLANs, trunking, STP, routing, ACLs, DHCP, DNS, and related network services. Monitor network devices, interfaces, links, and performance using SolarWinds Orion. Configure and maintain Orion alerts, thresholds, interface monitoring, and network availability monitoring. Investigate network alerts, outages, packet loss, latency, interface errors, and performance degradation. Perform switch configuration, firmware/software upgrades, backups, and routine network maintenance. Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity and end-user network issues. Support network changes through established change-management processes. Maintain network diagrams, device inventories, configurations, and technical documentation. Assist with network refreshes, equipment replacement, deployments, and infrastructure projects. Coordinate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, service desk, vendors, and other technical teams as required. Respond to operational incidents and participate in troubleshooting and root-cause analysis. Ensure assigned tasks and incidents are completed independently with appropriate documentation and follow-through. Required Qualifications 3–5+ years of hands-on enterprise networking experience. Strong experience with Cisco switches and enterprise network infrastructure. Solid understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking. Experience with VLANs, STP/RSTP, trunking, EtherChannel, TCP/IP, subnetting, and routing. Working knowledge of routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP. Hands-on experience with SolarWinds Orion or a comparable network monitoring platform. Strong network troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Experience working within incident, problem, and change-management processes. Ability to independently manage assigned work and troubleshoot issues through resolution. Preferred Qualifications CCNA or CCNP certification. Experience supporting Cisco Catalyst switching environments. Experience with firewalls, wireless networking, VPNs, and WAN technologies. Familiarity with SolarWinds NPM/NCM and network configuration management. Experience supporting highly available or critical infrastructure environments. Familiarity with cybersecurity practices, network segmentation, and access controls. CISCO Next-generation Firewall (NGFW) EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer networks, or a related field. Certification in related fields (CCNA, CCNP) required.
