Task Responsibilities:
The position holder is responsible to supervise & coordinate the road feeder service in relation to the companies operational and administrative activities. As such they are responsible to ensure the adherence to all internal procedures when performing their duties and they must demonstrate best practices. They must act in accordance with defined methods and must report deviations to their manager. They initiate activities and actions and assist in managing daily planning procedures within the department. All duties shall be fulfilled in accordance to company guidelines. They represent the Trucking Department in internal / external meetings. They contribute to review departmental concepts on how to establish and implement more efficient and improved operational procedures. They will assist and train new staff on the job.
Essential Requirements For The Position:
The position holder is in general accountable for the accomplishment of following tasks:
- Assist stations and customers, pre-arrange services
- Check and find best service options, based on nature of goods, weight and dimensions, storage facilities, equipment needed for handling and transport, warehouse and customs facilities at destination, rates and conditions
- Perform mail – box assistance, check flight bookings
- Inform handling agents of special handling, cargo storage or equipment requirements
- Where necessary pre - book truck service based on type of shipment (dry, perishable, valuable, oversized) or coordinate truck handling with direct customer (direct delivery, pick – up, ULD or loose, opening times
- Record and calculate the total volume for each destination, considering off size, odd shaped pieces as well as through ULD
- Ensure availability and correctness of transport documentation (e.g. Transfer manifest)
- Perform regularly follow-ups with the stations to ensure the correct handling, truck loading / off-loading is performed
- Ensure for each AWB requiring ground surface transportation in North America the related electronic messages (e.g. Cargo IQ, STM etc) are received both on AWB and truck level on time
- Provide customer support
Working Conditions:
The position holder is based in Houston, Texas.
The position demands a regular presence in the office and requires vacation and other absences to be planned so as to avoid conflicting with service needs.
Occasional travel may be required.
Flexibility may be needed with working hours. The position holder shall keep informed their line manager on their whereabouts and the means of telecommunications through which they will be reachable for urgent company needs, while on company mission.
