Position Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will develop and implement a multi-season airport wide capacity plan that aligns with the long-term corporate strategies and effectively meets future airport activity demands in a cost-effective manner. With a focus on continuous process improvement, the Director, Operations Planning will closely direct the provision and updating of airline schedules and measures of operational performance, driving recommendations for meaningful optimization improvements as required to meet activity demands.
As Director, Airport Operations Planning, you will:
- Plan and coordinate robust, balanced seasonal Airport Operations capacity plans, including airline demand allocation across airport facilities, while considering the capabilities of groundside, terminals, baggage and airside areas
- Work with stakeholders to successfully plan, navigate, execute and deliver new projects and initiatives that effectively support Airport Operations and the GTAA’s business needs
- Liaise with external partners to reflect requirements and inputs in support of seasonal planning, while driving opportunities that optimize asset and resource productivity
- Align Airport Operations requirements with longer term corporate planning initiatives to enable prioritization of CAPEX/OPEX initiatives
- Support the accuracy of planning assessments for future activity forecasts and planning day design schedules; and measure plan effectiveness through a proof of data approach, updating models and assumptions for continued effectiveness
- Direct the development, assessment and coordination of seasonal and ad hoc air carrier scheduling at Toronto Pearson in alignment with globally adopted processes and timelines
- Work closely with Airport Operations to assess and manage air carrier adherence to slot use and on-time performance, that drive performance improvements
- Implement and refine the tools and processes to enhance accuracy of seasonal planning and airline slot management efficiencies
- Assess and approve best use scheduled restricted hour movements while remaining within Transport Canada’s annual night budget
- Represent Toronto Pearson in industry forums and collaborate on performance enhancement initiatives
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations for operational improvements
- Conduct ongoing operational research to support future capacity enhancements, planning and decision-making
- Commit to and role model the GTAA Leadership Behaviours to support and further the business’ vision through the build and development of diverse, multi-skilled teams

- Post-secondary degree or a combination of education and relevant experience in airport operations/planning
- 10+ years of demonstrated experience working at large airports
- 7+ years of people management or leadership experience, building high performing, highly skilled and motivated teams
- Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance
