An exciting new opportunity has become available to lead the digital team who are forging new paths of digitising the way we design our products. The Chief of Product Design – Digital Design reports directly to the Head of Product Design and as I key member of the Product Design leadership team. The product design organisation has responsibility across the lifecycle leading development of technology strategies, whole engine product system design and resolution of complex issues within service. The rapidly changing digital landscape brings many opportunities with significant benefits in this area and this role is critical to harnessing these and keeping us ahead of our competition.
The Chief of Product Design – Digital Design will work with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure the future needs of our design teams are understood, communicated to ensure suitable enterprise solutions are provided by central groups and then lead our teams to drive adoption within our design teams to ensure that we truly harness the benefit.
There are a broad range of potential digital solutions and opportunities but some of the key immediate change items in play today are: MBSE, VVUQ and the wide spread roll out, Integrated Design Systems and wider application across the Product Systems and embracing AI and its use to bring design data to the fingertips of our engineers. This role is seen as a key change agent and candidates with free thinking and bold ideas are welcomed.

Key Accountabilities
- Provide strategic direction for the digitisation of our design process landscape.
- Lead the digital design team made up of some key design and software specialists available to enact the strategy.
- Chair the digital design capability board working alongside component design counterparts to ensure our people, rules, tools and methods are appropriately developing and controlled.
- Be a key member of the Product Design leadership team working together to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the team and its management.
- Promote an empowered, free-thinking culture which embraces ambiguity, challenges the status quo and works exceptionally well across the diverse digital landscape.
- Support funding submissions and programmes of work to ensure applicable benefits and funding are available for the proposed strategy.
- Identify and issues or constraints early and work with the wider leadership team to knock down barriers.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8+ years of experience supporting the engineering function OR
- Master’s degree and 6+ years of experience supporting the engineering function, OR
- JD/PhD and 3+ years of experience supporting the engineering function
- In order to be considered for this position, you must be a US Citizen or permanent resident.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrates sound engineering judgement and knowledge of the Sector Customers and Programmes
- Demonstrates effective leadership & engineering skills
- Capable of building high performing teams and effecting a positive shift in attitudes and behaviours
- Understanding of Company Quality policies and processes deployed within the resource group
- Experienced in applying process improvement techniques and driving business improvements

Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement.
