ResponsibilitiesThe Buyer II, Tech Purchasing is responsible for procuring and distributing high-cost aircraft materials, parts, tooling, and equipment to support Spirit’s scheduled and unscheduled maintenance needs. This role processes purchase orders, analyzes quotes, and negotiates competitive pricing for goods and services. The Buyer II coordinates closely with Maintenance Planning, Material Planning, and Engineering to support EOs, TIs, SBs, and aircraft modifications.
- Processes requisitions for procurement actions and any material movements, and sending request for quotes to approve vendor sources.
- Evaluates suppliers on price, quality, service and customer support, availability, reliability and selection.
- Collaborates with other departments to resolve discrepancies related to part certifications, invoicing, warranty claims, and other issues concerning all necessary orders.
- Expedites open orders from suppliers to ensure customer orders and on a need-by action to ensure stock levels are appropriate.
- Manages the procurement of related aircraft components by administering purchase orders, analyzing the related quotes and recommending next course of action.
- Ensures timely follow up of open purchase orders to ensure operational requirements are being met by working within the TRAX database and having a working knowledge of Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and Engineering Orders to ensure components ordered meet maintenance requirements.
- Measures vendor performance, identify trends, monitor cycle times, calculate yield (cost and quality), etc.
- Communicates findings internally and externally, to the Purchasing Manager.
- Negotiates reductions based on the analysis of quotes.
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments).
QualificationsEducation
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience (Business, Supply Chain Management or related field)
Experience
- 2-4 years of experience in procurement field
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred
Requires thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office, TRAX, Coupa, Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and Engineering Orders to ensure parts ordered meet maintenance requirements and corporate procurement policies.
Knowledgeable on submitting and tracking purchase orders to approved suppliers.
Broad understanding of current contracts and how they apply to specific suppliers parts.
Must possess strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Strong sense of financial responsibility and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Maintains a positive, collaborative approach when working with cross-functional teams.
Innovative problem-solver with the ability to think strategically and creatively.
