Position Title
Quality Control Engineer
Reporting To
Manager Quality & Safety (Safety & Investigation)
Role Purpose
To ensure the highest standards of maintenance quality and regulatory compliance by actively monitoring, assessing, and verifying maintenance activities and documentation in accordance with aviation authority regulations (e.g,CAAM,EASA Part 145) and customer requirements. The role supports continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and safety promotion across all aircraft maintenance operations.
Key Accountability
Regulatory & Quality Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance, repairs, and modifications are carried out in compliance with applicable aviation regulations (e.g., CAAM, EASA Part 145, FAA as applicable)
- Conduct on-site surveillance during maintenance activities to identify non-compliance or deviations from approved procedures
- Verify compliance of personnel during Certificate of Release to Service (CRS) issuance
On-the-Ground Surveillance
- Perform shift-based and random inspections, particularly during night shifts and operational peaks
- Conduct physical verification of completed maintenance tasks
- Review associated documentation for accuracy, completeness, and traceability
Process Review & SOP Enhancement
- Analyze Quality Deficiency Reports (QDRs) and identify trends or recurrent issues
- Review and recommend improvements to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on findings
- Participate in investigations of maintenance-related events and recommend preventive measures
Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Identify high-risk maintenance areas and recommend targeted surveillance plans
- Validate newly developed tools and custom maintenance procedures for compliance and safety
- Promote best practices in maintenance through real-time coaching and debriefs
Competency Assessment & Development
- Identify skills or knowledge gaps among maintenance personnel
- Recommend remedial training, refresher courses, or practical coaching
- Conduct 1st Type Endorsement Assessments
Safety Promotion
- Contribute to a culture of safety by integrating case-based learning into briefings
- Participate in safety campaigns and workshops
- Provide coaching and feedback to front-line staff on quality and safety expectations
Qualifications and Working Experience
- Minimum Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with credits in English, Mathematics, and Science. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a Diploma or higher qualification in Aircraft Maintenance or other aviation-related fields
- Valid CAAM Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence (B1.1 / B2), endorsed with aircraft types operated by Malaysia Aviation Group, including but not limited to Boeing 737-800, Boeing 737-8, A330 (PW4000), A330-900neo and A350 (Trent XWB)
- Minimum 5 years of certifying experience as a Licensed Aircraft Engineer (LAE) under a CAAM-approved Maintenance Organisation. Experience in compliance monitoring, or safety investigation is an added advantage
Areas of Experience
- Aircraft Maintenance operations (Line/Base Maintenance)
- Experience with regulatory audits, compliance processes, and technical documentation
- Working knowledge of MOE, Safety Management Systems (SMS), and CAAM regulatory requirements
