Overview
ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM:
As a Product Owner, you will play a crucial role in guiding the SITA Mission Watch application, a mission-critical tool for airlines managing real-time flight performance. You will act as a key pillar in SITA’s contribution to a greener, more sustainable aviation through the enablement of flight and air traffic optimization.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Product Owner is overall responsible for the following key activities:
- Provide regular project updates to stakeholders, ensuring the project stays on scope, on time, and within budget.
- Manage the product backlog, prioritizing work to align with the product vision and strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with technical teams to refine user stories, define acceptance criteria, and support successful feature delivery.
You will interact with the various functions within SITA FOR AIRCRAFT such as Engineering & Technology, Product, and other colleagues across the company, located in 20+ countries (Canada, United-States, France, Switzerland, Germany, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Spain...).
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals and strategic objectives.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for the product, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration across all involved teams.
- Work closely with Scrum teams to refine user stories and define acceptance criteria.
- Support both the current Mission Watch application and the new web application of the project, maintaining a balance between ongoing support and future development.
- Ensure all deliverables meet customer expectations and technical standards while staying on time and within scope.
- Provide regular reports to stakeholders, highlighting progress, risks, and key decision points.
- Assist the Product Manager in prioritizing the product backlog based on business value and technical feasibility.
- Facilitate Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, and Sprint Reviews, ensuring teams stay focused on the goals.
- Manage project gates, ensuring projects are on scope, on budget, and on time.
- Oversee the integration of new features while keeping existing customers’ needs in mind.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks, ensuring project success and minimal disruptions.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE:
- Proven track record as a Product Owner or in a similar role, with at least 5 years of experience in Agile environments.
- Knowledge of the aviation industry and airline operations.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, able to communicate effectively with technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of both operational and technical aspects of software products, with the ability to balance business needs and technical challenges.
- Experience working with multiple Scrum teams in parallel, with the ability to manage priorities across different projects.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring alignment across teams and deliverables.
- Knowledge of project management principles, able to track budgets, manage resources, and ensure timely delivery.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment, managing competing priorities and adjusting to changing project requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration between stakeholders, developers, and the Product Manager.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable tasks.
- Adaptability and resilience, with a proactive approach to solving challenges and finding innovative solutions.
Nice-to-have
- Familiarity with web application technology revamps and product migration strategies.
- Certification in Agile methodologies or project management (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner, PMP).
